You didn't mention management which provides the things the organization wants on offense and do scouting on players.

As good as KA and MW were, having them on the team for so long, opponents knew what to expect with the Chargers' offense. Them being gone isn't that bad. There's new bodies that are capable of holding their own. Even when those two were healthy and both on the field, the WR room lacked speed after them, and it killed the offense when there was too many slower guys. That is mitigated now thanks to better management and scouting.
Why do you say Hurst isnt as good as Everett?

Dissly is here primarily to be a blocking TE, with some catching ability
Justin Herbert is Elite. Ride or Die ...

Everett was a decent pro TE, not knocking him - I just don’t know he was better than Hurst will be. My sum of Everett was he was effective as a receiver when he gave 100% but he did not always give 100%. He was worse in 2022 than 2023, maybe he saw some of his tape. The “KC Quit” still haunts as he hung Golden God out to dry. He was sub-average as a blocking TE, I honestly think it was degree of effort there (with no evidence, just my hunch).

Hurst I do not yet know. His two best years are basically the same as Everett’s best years. He was a R1 draft pick, but he has missed significant time 2 of last 3 years. Could be better, could be worse, I expect/guess he is somewhat the same functionally as a receiver but a better in-line blocker - IFFF he doesn’t get hurt. Hurst is also cheaper shorter term solution in a year we had to resolve a big cap hole left by TT.

I’m excited to find out …

Yeah. Cudda snagged Bowers. Next year...TE.

I just have this sneaking suspicion that GRo is slicker than he used to be.

Oh man haha I think there was a mini civil war here on
TPB with regard to Everett's wrong turn/interception.
He asked for a break man, he was gassed.. did his part, we hurried when we didn't need to. Lombardi didn't see it.and called the worst play possible for that specific situation.

Jim Harbaugh's 2024 Chargers will play their 1st game as a team on Sep 8 vs LVR.

Aside from that, they've all played football. Some find it fun to judge or rank them based on the recent past of individuals involved.

Q; Is this Chargers offense better than the 2023 #21 scoring offense that lost 21 - 63 in their last game vs LVR?

Ans: Very likely IMO. Very likely.

Just one of many ways in which Staley and staff found a way to lose a game.

And its not like Staley put a great deal of emphasis on conditioning.

Just a thought but considering the new kickoff rules
                      and the Roman/Harbaugh offense
I think there's a chance both QJ and Davis both increase their production by simply swapping out roles.
imagine QJ as a returner with his ability to make guys miss and with under rated speed.
Davis on reverses and screens, manufactured touches and even occasional go-routes.

Why would you do that when Davis was voted best return in the league by the players? I don't understand why people are knocking Davis. It's one of the very few late round draft picks TT got right.
The I'm over it offseason moves:
                        1) Cut Becton, Boz, Dissly, and Dupree
                        2) Re-sign Tart, Hand, and Oweh
                        3) Sign the ERFA's Williams, Patterson, and Vidal.
                        4) Re-sign Fisk for cheap. Also re-sign Zion (Let him test the FA market).
                        5) Sign free agents Isaac Seumalo (RG), Linderbaum/McGovern/Luke Fortner (OC) Devin Llyod/Leo Chenal (LB), Bryce Hall (RB), Alec Pierce (WR), Dallas Goedert (TE), 1st- Jaelan Phillips (ED), realistic- K'Lavon Chaisson (ED).

I got the impression somewhere that under new kick off rules two returners may be an option..

Otherwise I think QJ is a receiver.
