I've been a fan for some time. Even when this team was "good", it seemed like we always found a way to screw it up instead of simply being outplayed. Being a Chargers fan is difficult; fans of other teams actually give me props for sticking with them and staying as sincere of a fan as possible.
This game put me on the fence about jumping whole-heartedly into the 'casual fan' zone. I don't think I could never not be a fan, and I would not want to be a fan of another team (I think I'd stop watching football if I didn't have a favorite team). That said, the amount of energy and emotion I dedicate to this team, while having waned in recent years due to a number of reasons, is too much for me to not receive anything in return.
The 2016 season has honestly been the most disappointing for me. The worst reason was how we finished games (and eventually lost them). It was ridiculous to watch us lose the same way week after week.
The more I write, the more I realize that it's probably not gonna happen and I'll keep buying into this stupid team. That said, this game really was indicative of the ineptitude that starts at the top and trickles down. The team has good players, but as a team they have such a weak identity and it does nothing to amplify their play; good teams gel together and buy into the same ideals and it makes them better individually. The Chargers have none of that and it shows.
