Thats a good observation. First half the offense looks good when it is on script. But in second halves of games at crunch time, after adjustments, it often comes down to the quality of players and how they execute, and our weapons are not up there with the better teams

In other words, when the game dictates you have to go off script, you need playmakers to make plays

Just a small point, but I wrote "so often" underperform rather than "always" because I'm not sure if it happens every game. It sure feels like it, but regardless, it's a worrisome trend, whether it's coaching/talent/whatever.

If feels like it happens every game and the fact that through the RAvens game they are averaging under 10 points in second halves of games I think shows that its a problem. Granted, the team is 7-4 but it would be nice to get some more points in the second half of games. Frustrating.

Which is why after Mon game, it’s become obvious that this team needs an Elite WR. The whole QJ thing is dead. He needs to go and they need to pay Higgins and get Herbert an elite, proven playmaker on the outside.
Then get a TE/RB in the draft.

Yes, let Chark play. Sit QJ to send him a message. Reagor isn't dropping passes.

Reagor dropped the first perfectly thrown pass to him on Monday?

Yeah, and you can add as obvious need punishing RB and a true pass catching TE. I would love to see them add a bigger more physical WR as well for the RZ.
Time to put my money where my mouth is: Hampton will be better than Jeanty!

Honestly, they need to let QJ play. They need to find out if he can work through this and if he is going to be a long term option. It's still too early to give up on him.

I don't mean to keep banging on this, but there is another possibility in addition to coaching or player talent. Could it be partially psychological? Could some players be so determined to avoid "chargering" that they try too hard and make atypical mistakes? Or could some players just tighten up under pressure?

Regardless, here are some stats from a week ago:

RB isn't that high on the list for me. Fix the IOL and any decent back will surfice. And vice versa, the greatest of RBs won't matter when there's no hole to run through. I feel like we will re-sign Dobbins anyway.

Since you brought it up, when were the Chargers average or better in the second half of games over a season? I can't recall. Air Coryell?

We should still take another RB in the mid rounds. The position is stacked in 2025 draft. Dobbins has a checkered injury history at best, Gus has not been impressive, Vidal was a late pick. This coaching staff wants a serious run game so we should be working on assembling a serious RB stable.

I love Dobbins and hope he is back but another young stud to add would be good.
