And it may take until week 5 for the offense to get rolling. Could be punting a lot and relying on the defense to keep it close and Herbert to make a few game winning plays.

They need to start 2-0 because after that they have a very tough 7 game stretch of all playoff caliber opponents.
Very tough 7 game stretch, so lets just say that the Chargers better have their shit fully together by week 3.

No one that's going to have that big of an impact on making our oline that much better otherwise they wouldn't be made available in the coming days.

It's an amazing stroke of fortune that an UDFA-- Spomer-- has been impressing at a position where the team is absolutely desperate for quality depth. Tyler Biadasz' injury and absence are a recoverable setback only because Spomer is filling the void, and not just with 'competent' play but with best-in-the-entire-NFL-over-two-preseason-games play.

Again, amazing stroke of fortune. One more reason to believe that a magical season ahead is still within reach.
It's still unbelievable to think we needed a center so badly and everyone was so releaved when we signed Biadasz! And he's out for the season before playing in one game.

and the way he got injured.

It's like as fans we had a few months of the off season to feel good about our IOL, and now its back to reality.

...and it's like we're so used to this kind of shit happening its like no big surprise. WTF.

          No luck needed.
All Spomer had to do to find the right place to go to make a roster was to Google, "which NFL team is cursed at OC?"

He didn't get poached last year 🤷 . I think the only one that will get poached if sent to the PS is Colson. And he wouldn't pass thru waivers to get poached. He would get claimed

For the final roster spots, what will matter is how much locker room presence and leadership will matter.

Matlock, Te'Rah and Branson work hard and fall into distinct age groups.

Are the Chargers ready to transition towards youth ?

Dye, Denzel, Bud, Unc, there are several players to be scrutinized.

Hate to say it, but who is dinged, who gets dinged on Thursday, who are the top poach candidates, and which vets get butt hurt by PS designation ?

These are relevant questions, moreso than which particular names individual posters, pidcasters need to bag on, while having no real ability to access talent level or scheme, roster fit.

It's enduring shit like this that forges fans into diehards. And we'll experience the eventual title our Bolts win as *that* much sweeter for having weathered the hard times.

Te'Rah is no longer a UDFA who is not good enough to see the field ,,,,, often a big step up for 2nd year DTs.
He has been disruptive and will get poached.

One of the cbs may well not make waivers, but the Chargers seem to be able to find those guys.

Colson? might not be certain about his health. If he passes waivers, and heads to another practice squad ... fine!
Add him as a 6th linebacker and he might be inactive all year. His contract will be up the following year.

                    Young bubble guys by preference:
                    #1. TeeRah
                    #2. Ndame
                    #3. L. Taylor
                    #4. 6th corner
                    #5. Colson
                    #6. Kennard

Ideally ..... would like anyone of them to beat out: Dye, Penning, Leonard, Dupree ....

weve seen years of Pip getting physically abused by pass rushers and DL....
Pip has held up well (enough) in pass protection on the right side. He has never been good in power gap run schemes - tbd if wide zone is better for him,

Burke could pass him, I’m guessing it will be next year though I welcome all upside surprises. He is far ahead of my development expectation so far. I love his nasty streak, dude loves to dominate his opponent.

It is worth remembering with Burke that he hasn't faced full NFL pass rush yet. Preseason teams don't do film study, they line up in vanilla formations and don't try to scheme guys to free them up, they don't use their full range of blitzes. They just isolate athlete vs athlete, so they can judge the players talent and fundamentals.

Burke may be a better player, but we haven't had a chance to REALLY see it yet.

After reading the last couple of pages......

I think Penning sticks around......for some reason I feel the coaching staff love him.

I don't think Genesis sniffs the waiver wire or even a trip to the PS (where he would get poached IMHO). I think he makes the 53.

I would love to see them retain TeeRah and Ndame in some capacity....either outright or the PS. If they go PS, poachability is on the high side of the scale.....again IMHO.
