I am just speculating but to me as a bystander this looks like they believing that there is still potential value in former but fallen talent over fresh UDFA. Some of these players appear to have prior connections to someone like McD or Harbaugh, apart from the one clearly connected to Herbert. The WR from the Fins seems like a big bodied one over the other one released who was 5'10".

Joe Hortiz doesn't think so and he knows more than us about NFL personnel.Originally posted by beachcomber View Post
not sure there is one there.... ??
thinkin' Devonte Ross 'n Waxter might be better than their replacements ??
Eric Rogers.... JPatt ??
Chargers kept the right 2 RBs in Greg Derosiers and Amar Johnson....both more talented than Patterson
Theo Weise was a Mike McDaniel addition. He was a rookie in Miami last year. Weise spent most of the year on the PS but when he finally got into a game at the end of the year his one catch was a 63 yard TD. Ross is a little guy at 170 lbs, don't think Chargers need another...Weise is 6''2 208
Kaiir Elam has not panned out but he was good enough in college that the Buffalo Bills used a 1st round draft pick on him, 2 picks after Trent McDuffe. Seems like a Clinkscale project to bring out his talent. He had a promising rookie year in Buffalo but then missed the next 2023 season with a torn ligament in his foot. and never seemed to get back on track and take the leap in 2024 s they traded him to Cowboys in 2025 and he has bounded around a bit.
I dont know much about Jordan Jefferson but he was a 4th round pick in 2024. He played in the SEC for LSU

Surprised to read this!

We are all experts here Dmac.
My two cents - levity aside: fullback is important to McDaniel's offense, and if Ingold goes down, they can't run a good 1/2 to 1/3 of the offensive sets.
Matlock is the only fullback beyond Ingold ...meaning that he knows the position, although he is shitty at it.
He can also play poorly at a few other positions .... which is better than bringing in nobody at the spur of the moment.
I think he’s a very bad power gap FB and increasing the speed and distance he has to move in a wide zone will magnify his inability to hit a moving defender even more.Justin Herbert 2026 MVP Watch

Yes please we went through a very dark period here when the move was made. It created all sorts of shit storms. And attacks and fighting. The staff had to deal with a ton of blowback. Its in the past. Nobody is closing the door on the past....but discussing here leads to division and fights.
We beat that horse good.
So i agree...its not technically a rule...but if we could just move on and not take the community down that road again...that would be great.

Money had said that DD12 was among the last 3 in the 53 man roster to make it and IIRC, Matt had said the 50th player. I am not counting the 2 IRed already prior to the regular season but I think with the regular season IR activities, most likely the pre trading deadline acquisition / subtraction, the 3 most endangered Chargers are DD12, Penning and Harkey. Honorable shoutout to Scott Matlock as the 54th!Originally posted by jamrock View Post

Well said! We cannot change the past. We can only learn from it and move on.Originally posted by Fleet 1 View PostYes please we went through a very dark period here when the move was made.
