I am good with going for Sweat -- - they have the extra 4th from the Oweh comp pick coming in

Granted, again, Tuli takes priority but if you have four edge like Tuli, Mack Sweat and Mesidor -- that could cause some issues for the other team
We need to use that 3rd or 4th round comp pick. 2007 is killer draft and we are already down to 5 picks before the comp pick. Geez guys stop trading away our draft picks lol! That is how this GM builds

Chargers have 6 picks before the comp pick

Saints get the Chargers 6th rounder for Penning
Texans get the 7th rounder for Deculus but the Chargers get the 7th rounder from the Ravens for the Gilman trade

As for trading picks - -if Josh Sweat for a 4th round comp pick helps the Chargers win a playoff game -- I think I would be okay with it.

Stan Kroenke is worth billions and has the cash flow to do this type of deal

The key to working the NFL cap is an excel spreadsheet and cash. Thats it. Its not complicated. You just need CASH to truly maximize the benefits of the NFL Salary cap.

You can keep pushing out cap hits - void years.
Don't tell DMAC about void year.

Plus how his contract was set up. Garrett has bonuses that don't kick in until Labor Day. So the Rams pick up the tab now, and can rework those guarantees. And since they are flush with cap, they can work it out

Like look at how the Chargers handled Derwin James - his cap number stayed the same for 2026. The Eagles - maybe with that type of move creates cap space in 2026 to make other moves.
It is just how teams manage the cap. That Derwin James contract is pretty straightforward - 2026 and 2027, and we will see about 2028. Granted, I am sure if the Chargers wanted, they could still create cap space

lol I still don't get the void year stuff. Seems like chicanery to me! Are there any rules to it at all - can you have 10 void years on the end of a contract? how about 100 years lol? I think the most I have seen so far is 4.

Garrett is like a Top 5 player in the entire league, any position, imo, I'd void stuff for him. Joe seems overly conservative with cap - maybe once he's settled in he will become bolder?

My guess, Joe isn't the one conservative with the cap. Go higher up the food chain. Joe can't spend what Dean doesn't have.

Derwin James got a $12m signing bonus. Yes, he got a bunch of money guaranteed like all of his 2026 and 2027 contracts but a $12m signing bonus is peanuts. Dean operates in a different stratosphere than other owners. Or shall I saw a team like the Rams with Kroenke operate in a different stratosphere. The Broncos the same.

Spending to the cap can be different for two teams. Both might have $20m of cap space left but how they get there, way different.

I think Brown is a done deal to the Patriots

I don't think they need AJ Brown anymore. Now if the Browns want to trade Denzel Ward - I might listen. If the Cardinals want to trade Josh Sweat, I might listen. If Joel Bitonio wants to play near where he played in high school, I think Long Beach, I might listen.
