Hard to believe we don't see Topcat pounding the table for Alexander to sign elsewhere.

Because topcat knows Alexander has been Hortiz's right hand man the last 3 drafts .... how integral is he to their success?

There were many other reasons for that for which defenders are not allowed to do today.

For starters there was no 5 yard chuck rule within 5 yards. They could push them around their whole route. Back then, using today's rules you could call PI on nearly every play.

More on Fouts interceptions. This is from my database...back-end...messy but coherent.

I don't keep records for every year back in the day, but here are two years that I have.

Fouts had the 5th lowest (best) INT rate of qualifying QBs in 1981 and the 13th lowest in 1983. Rate is a much more meaningful stat than a raw count.

Seems fair to compare, but it's actually not reasonable to compare QBs of different eras when it comes to interceptions.
