Film Study: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (week 7 vs Cardinals)

    Welcome back diehards.
This week we watched our Chargers grind out a hard fought game and come up short. Its a heartbreaking loss. Feels like one that slipped away.

Hopefully next week we see some better results
    as always
    luv ya

that first play - everyone was blanketed. it took a great throw from Herbet and even an even better catch from Palmer to get that completion. i think that is why we are ending up with FG's and scoreless quarters. when you can't run, it puts a lot of pressure on the passing game - one holding call or sack and suddenly a drive has stalled.

the big runs from Dobbins in a few games helped our rushing yard stats, but we have never consistently run the ball against any team this year (maybe Carolina). the game against AZ reminds of the chargers from the last few years: Herbert put up passing yards because we can't run, but a lot of drives eventually stall out once you have 3rd and 10.

on that sack you analyzed, AZ had three guys ready to sack JH. disaster. the TE (81 i think) let his guy blow past him - almost untouched.

    thanks for the vid.

Did you know that the Cards were 1-41 when they score 17 points or less ?

Alt was blocking the DE who dropped into coverage, so he switched to the DT but it was too late. The DT swim move beat Pipkins before ALT could recognize and switch and it was very quick.

                  Someone has a list ?

                  - according a 4th and 23
                  - lose a 20 points lead at halftime of a wild card
                  - ...

look at 0:26 - every charger just ran straight down the field and is totally covered. four receivers and no one is close to being open.

i'm not an OC, but i would suggest having at least one guy run a shorter route (either in/out, or just stop and turn).

edit: it is so interesting to see this. now i know what is happening when i am yelling at my TV: "why is Herbert holding onto the ball"

agree with this. i realize that draft picks are the lifeblood for building a consistent winner, but i hope we make some kind of move before the trade deadline. either IOL, WR or TE.
