This is my cluster. Popper’s thoughts match mine (or vice versa). I’d be happy with any of the six. And IMO, one of them will be there at 22.
Tight end
Tyler Warren, Penn State
Colston Loveland, Michigan
The Chargers have two tight ends on the roster for 2025: Will Dissly and McCallan Castles. Dissly set career highs in catches (50) and yards (481) last year in his first season with the Chargers. He was particularly good in yards-after-catch situations. But as the playoff loss in Houston showed, Dissly has some limitations as a pass catcher. The strength of his game is as an inline blocker. The Chargers need a tight end who can be more of a matchup advantage in the passing game, particularly stretching the field down the seams. Adding that type of tight end would also move Dissly into a predominantly blocking role that better fits his skills. I’ll say this now: Warren will probably be gone. But I am including him because he is such an ideal fit for what the Chargers need. It is the draft, after all. Anything can happen. Loveland, meanwhile, played for Harbaugh at Michigan. He would provide a size-speed combination at tight end the Chargers have not deployed in years. Castles was signed to the practice squad in October and signed a futures contract in January.
Edge rusher
Shemar Stewart, Texas A&M
Mykel Williams, Georgia
James Pearce Jr., Tennessee
Mike Green, Marshall
This, to me, is the most fascinating position group for the Chargers this offseason because of all the moving parts. Mack is a pending free agent. Bosa has the largest cap hit of any edge rusher in the league in 2025, and he has just 14 sacks over the past three seasons combined as he has battled numerous injuries. How the Chargers approach the Mack and Bosa situations will inevitably inform their approach to edge rusher in free agency and the draft. One thing is clear, however: The Chargers must get younger at edge. They have one young, potentially ascending player in Tuli Tuipulotu. The other players in the room last season — Mack, Bosa and Bud Dupree — will all be over 30 by the time training camp begins in July. The 22nd pick could be a sweet spot for an edge rusher. It would be tough to spend a first-round pick on this position if both Mack and Bosa are back. So stay tuned.
