Omarion Hampton, RB, Discussion

Omarion Hampton is a battering ram style RB who will give LBs and CBs a good old whooping if and when he makes it past the LOS and gets going. If you are looking for jukes and wiggles, OH8 does not have that style of some RBs so better hope that Keaton Mitchell fills that void if that's your fancy. Hopefully with more experience, Omarion will develop a bit more patience behind his line to let the running lanes develop, albeit it very momentarily, right in front of him so that he can fill his primary function of battering, hurting and causing fatigue to Ds.

That is NOT what this offense does.

Runners can sit and wait in gap schemes. That was last year.

Zone runs the RB has to hit their mark and make the cut. They make their read as they approach it. The outside and wide zone runs make take some time to develop, but it takes a while to get to those landmarks too. But this is not a "wait and see what is there" type of running game. It is a see what is there and take it running game.

Let's hope he's better at running through would be tacklers than Melvin was.
If I recall, Mel went down with the first guy that touched him more times than not. Plus, Mel had HORRIBLE vision! Let's hope Omarion is at least average in seeing the field.

He could also be a Najee Harris. Hopefully.

It's a smallish sample size last season.for Omarion but still a nice video.

like the ballet dancer comment. There was a player I LOVED in the 1970's who was very graceful in his movements towards the ball...Lynn Swan. I was a huge Steelers fan starting in 1972 and going into 1979. I still don't exactly understand why . Franco was cool. And Mean Joe Greene was awesome. That whole defense!

Both statements are true if preseason means preseason games. Hampton hasn't even played yet for practical purposes.

I thought Johnson was also good and both were better than Vidal. not enough better to sway the staff. yet.

Enough to sway the staff away from Patterson though. No longer on PS. Just Amar and Greg.
