So there is an article out there in which Ekeler has renewed his complaints about the way his Charger career ended. He claims he asked for an extension and was told no. Then he asked to seek a trade and Chargers said no problem but we want a 1st round for you. He forgets the Chargers did renegotiate his contract and gave him a chance to earn a few million more for incentives that were reasonable but he did not hit. They did not have to do that. I always liked him but wish he would just stop the whining.

It is just the business of how the NFL runs. The NFL will cut a player over money issues so I don't believe he did anything wrong asking for more money/years. The team had all the leverage and said no. He is a smart enough guy to realize his time making good money is running short so he attempted to get the most out of what he has left. I wish him the best and thank him for what he gave the Chargers, he was never a Harbaugh type (big) back so we were better off moving on.

Ekeler got a 2 yr deal for ~$4M/year from WAS. Not sure what LAC was offering but I’d bet he could have got that from LAC if he didn’t turn into a loud complainer saying negative things about the team. Wish he would have stayed for that 2 yr money, well worth it. But life goes on …“Less is more? NO NO NO - MORE is MORE!”

Ekeler was a Charger UDFA which means he was a long shot at establishing an NFL career.
He might easily have signed elsewhere, not had the same breaks and been out of the league before he ever flashed.
Dude should be grateful instead of bitter.

Union activist. Cesar Chavez of NFL RBs. OK with me but he won't make the owners happy with his "Were underpaid!" rhetoric.
Not my problem. If I remember correctly, he's a multimillionaire and is invested in and/ or owns several businesses.
I hope all his employees and associates get everything they think they're worth.

I haven't seen him show a dipper's spit cup worth of care for the 30 guys on every roster making ~$1M/yr while he was making 6x that much. He's lament is a selfy-self me-me gimme-gimme gripe. The only reason he cares about RBs as a class is because he's an RB. Really - he only cares about his paycheck.
Nothing wrong a man seeking what he believes he's worth. but spare us the Cesar's March on Grape Growers bullshit. its not a collective effort, its not a struggle for equity, as he left 3/5 of the team behind. Its just a dude trying to get his. Selma Ray is not on the soapbox.
It reminds me of the Drew Brees Mission From God bullshit to go to NO. GTFO, NO was the 1 team of 32 that offered a fully guaranteed contract, it was no more complicated than that. God told him to take the money.“Less is more? NO NO NO - MORE is MORE!”

The Ekkie interview is basically a rehash of what he said before...nothing new other than he said Anthony Lynn, RB coach with the Commanders, helped him get signed there...no mention by Ekkie of all those incentives the Bolts gave him that final year...what Ek apparently didn't realize is that a lot of NFL teams nowadays are a bit reluctant to extend the contracts of players, especially RB's who are coming up on 30 years old...the Bolts still had one year left on his deal, and had every right to keep him that year and evaluate his season and decide if it was worth it to extend him...and his stats took a hit that final year--he went from 900+ yds and 13 TD's in 2022 to 600+ yds and 5 TD's in 2023...not exactly a glittering gold resume for a fat extension...Ek's yards gained went down more with the Commanders with only 300+ yds and 4 TD's in 2024...it's clear the guy is on the decline...the only bright spot for Ekkie is he turned into a decent kickoff returner with Washington with nearly 600 yds. gained...
