I really thought that Chargers coaches were trying to lose the Jaguars game this year. I must admit my reasoning behind it was due to the frequent d-line alignment that opened obvious holes in what I assume was a response to an unbalanced o-line (maybe two OT's employed on one side of their center OR simply a TE lined up on one side) used by Jacksonville. I really did not notice how Jacksonville was lined up on either side of the center. But I did notice that we were aligning our d-line heavy towards the right side of J'villes' o-line - thereby creating obvious vacancies through our right side of our d-line. And J-Ville ran the ball repeatedly with success through that vacated space. I also noticed one d-line formation we employed near our goal-line that left our entire middle vacated that Jags' QB Trevor Lawrence ran through with ease for a three-yard TD.

My question for anyone who knows...Why would our coaches continue using "unbalanced" d-lines when they were continuously exploited by the Jags offense to our detriment? Why not go back to a regular alignment if our unbalanced d-line is not working AT ALL during the game? And that was the case on November 16, 2025 as far as what I could tell.

It kind of shocked me that we continued with this strategy because they were killing us by simply running towards wherever our vacated d-line was exposed at. It really frustrated me to a high degree. I couldn't watch most of the second half because of it. So I may have missed some/lots of plays where we lined up in a more conventional formation. Was that the case? I'm hoping someone can tell me yes or no. Anyhow, I don't want to assume our coaches are "in on the fix" (until I have clear-cut substantiated evidence at least) because it leaves me with quite a dirty taste in my mouth whenever watching other games. It taints what I'm watching! I want to enjoy football. And NOT suspect based on no substantiated evidence that major "game-fixing" is being employed by elements within NFL teams (coaches/players?) and/or game referees/umpires.

Anyways, if you can help with why we used our unbalanced d-line so much to utter futility in that Jags game, please do.

    Thank you,

    Fred
I can't answer that question other than maybe Minter was asking too much of his d-line. I also don't think they have the Dline guys to run the complete D he wants to run.

With that said, that is one of the major adjustments they made over the bye. They played more cover 0 against the Raiders then they have all season. I expect they will continue this the rest of the year has they have to if they are going to stop the run and get pressure on the opposing QBs.
