I think more of it has to do with how some NFL teams view C. They think that you can get by with some TOUGH, smart guys, if you can get the right guys around him. That's my theory and I am sticking to it. Plus, as I like to point out, there were not a lot of other options. Better the Devil you know .... and I do think they wanted the toughness more than anything at first.
Boze had one saving grace. In H&H 1st season, late in games, Boze was able to drive guys off the ball when they were tired and legs were whipped. He got movement and really helped to open up the holes that broke the long runs that Dobbins won some games for us. That was Boze's element.
The fact that this year we hardly got in those moments because he was getting beaten left, right and center was the big problem. I don't think they were going to want Boze's much longer even if he had played better, but he was at the end of the line anyway.

I struggle to believe that Roman cared more about Bozeman than he did about winning or his job, reputation, boss, etc, etc.Originally posted by Topcat View Post
Looks to me that Gro was playing favorites with his old buddy Boze from Baltimore...probable proof that Raven blood is thicker than water...

I would buy the theory that Gro insisted Boze was better than all evidence. Maybe he even had a quality assurance data geek cobble up some Gro-scale analysis to “prove” it. Joe is still responsible if he listened to that bozo about bozo. Joe went and signed James, but all appearances are that Gro never even gave him a chance - all jmo of course.
Joe hoped / bet he could defer it another year to work on different roster things is my best guess and bought the theory part of Bose’s problem was Pipkins???

I thought we should have cut Boze at the end of his first season with us...total head scratcher why they kept him for year 2...okay, so we had cap issues, but I still think Trader Joe could have upgraded...unless it was Roman banging the table to keep him...

My guess was that Roman believed our O could have a solid year with Najee, Hampton, Slater , Becton and Alt. Boze knew what GRo wanted with those personnel and could manage OK. No matter. There was a lot of trouble with availability, the wheels fell off and Boze wasn't up to the changes that were needed. Anyway, 2025 is over and it will be different going forward.Originally posted by Topcat View Post

He was the center on the roster that Gro thought was best, or safest, or most known, or something. who knows what Gro thought. We will never know if he was the best center on the roster because Gro refused to test James enough to find out. We saw James play one game (Game 17) better than at least 12 of Bozeman's games (if not all of them) and Gro pretended it didn't happen in his post-game presser. jmo.
I don't endorse yelling just for yelling sake. But I think it is sometimes more destructive and corrosive to continually praise a player that the entire rest of the roster can see sucks with their own lyin' eyes. I don't mind a guy that tries as hard as he can and just can't physically match up, but I cannot accept the unrivaled stupidity of that MOFO to constantly wander off and block nobody while defenders ran straight over the top of where he snapped the ball at Herbert untouched.
Thats not "trying as hard as he can". That is recidivist dumbfuckery to the point it is gross negligence. Fuck Bozeman, good riddance. The way all you guys are giving him a kiss on the way out the door is just weird ... I've been here the entire time, I read everything you guys wrote the last 2 years
(ahem - all jmo again, of course).

I don't give a shit about Bozeman beyond He's retired, no longer a Charger.
That pleases me.

No need to show some visuel of that !Originally posted by powderblueboy View PostWhen i am nearing death, and think of Boze one last time, three images will pop up:
image A is the Texan playoff game, with Boze lazily pawing the air, but unoccupied, pretending to be actually doing his job passing off a twisting Texan DT racing across him, steaming towards the A gap;
image B is Bozeman changing the line call, countermanding Herbert or someone, with Herbert too late to change the mistake, desperately screaming ''No!'', before getting obliterated.
image C is of Boze quickly being the first to peel Herbert off the carpet, after getting lit up.
I am stuck with them.

I will be respectful to him as a human but football wise, for this departure to be actually OFFICIAL....could not have been a better or happier start to the off season for me 😁 🍾

Well, look at it this way. We all know and agree Bozeman was not a good center for the Chargers. He was also the best center on the roster. They were stuck with him. Want to yell and scream at a guy who just can’t play at a good or high level despite trying as hard as he can? Yelling in that case doesn’t magically make him a better player. It just makes him even worse. I think Harbaugh knew what he had and tried to make the best of it
