POLL: How Much Should Tuli Get in New Deal?

Tuli Tuipulotu is entering the final year of his rook deal, and the Bolts would be wise to extend him soon, before the price tag goes up. Spotrac currently projects Tuli to receive a four-year, $74 million deal in the upcoming offseason, with the Bolts set to have more than enough to satisfy the $18.5 million a year. Tuli led the Bolts with 13 sacks last season, and was picked for the Pro Bowl.

Would $18 mil be enough to keep him, or would it take more? Here's what the top Edge rushers in the league are making:

In looking at the list........it's tough because some teams have thrown mad money at guys. From a team perspective I say the 25 range. Tuli's folks might just laugh at that........ Anybody got a one year / three year comparison chart of production versus his peers? That's what I'd like to see......

Here's NFL sack totals for the top players the past 3 years, including Tuli (scroll down)...he's definitely ascending, but doesn't have the same body of work as a lot of the guys pulling in $40+ mil:

Based on Topcat's chart and Tuli's ascendent trajectory, I think that the FO will have to cough up > 25M but less than 30M. The 18.5M figure thrown around by that site is not going to cut it and will only p*ss off Tuli's team. Therefore I am selecting "Other". Furthermore, I would lock him up somewhere in the range in-between the 10th to the 15th ranked players' pay package for 4 + 1 years and option.

My numbers for Tuli are based on the Oweh and Bonitto deals. Oweh was 96/4 and Bonitto was 104/4. Plus the added salary cap. I think he will be in the 108/4 with 60m guaranteed, 35m signing bonus

2028: 24m
2029: 26
2030: how much is left over, so like 30m cap hit

I dont know but he should get more than Bonitto. Thats all i know,... above that and somewhere around the guys above him. Maybe around what Burns got,..... give or take a few mil.

I compared Owehs production to Coopers and he got more when i though he should get around the same or just above.

Travon Walker got $27.5 million a year when he signed his contract in 2026. At the time, he he had 24.5 sacks and 28 tackles for loss in three years. He now has 27.5 sacks and 36 tackles for loss in four years. Tuli has 26 sacks and 39 tackles for loss in three years. Tuli also has five forced fumbles in three years, while Walker has three forced fumbles in four years. I think Tuli will probably get somewhere between $30 million and $35 million a year.

Tuli was a 2nd rounder, not a former 1st round pick, so there is no 5th year option.

Sportstrac values him at $18.7 mil/yr (4 yrs @ ~$75 mil)
OTC at $22.8 mil / yr (if we extrapolate to 4 years = $91.4 mil)

Both sets of estimates are based on past performance and contracts are going up, so they tend to be a bit low.

He doesn't have the same body of work, but he also has to rotate. It makes the team more effective, but it hurts his individual stats.

Mostly it complicates things. His side will point out that he could have more production and should get paid that way, the Chargers probably want to continue to keep up a rotation, so they want to keep the value down. Only time will tell on how much he will make.

Tuli will get a contract that's toward the top of the market, whatever the market happens to be when he signs in two weeks, or 8 months, or somewhere in between.

He may not end up being the highest paid player at his position in the NFL, but he'll be close to it.

He's not acting like he's in any hurry to sign, because he knows his value isn't going to decrease.

Thanks "Pollcat", that's what I needed to see. Well fiddle dee dee.......With the ascension that Topcat mentioned, I can see Tuli's folks salivating over what the market has paid guys. Oweh had a half of a good season with us and the Commanders coughed up big money. Did he deserve it?.......Meh.....hard to say. Did he hit the market at the right time and cash in?......Oh HELL yeah.....

If Tuli holds firm, we might have to cough up north of 30 mil per with a say.....100 guaranteed plus. The question becomes....Do the Chargers go there??? Mack has definitely reached the final year, maybe two of his career. If we don't lock down Tuli we could leave ourselves with 2 important positions to fill. Damn I'm not a GM and glad of it. These two camps are going to wage a pretty good chess game in the coming months I fear. Unless they sing Kumbaya together and sign him fairly quick.
