    Continuity is over-rated.

You can easily get away with a lot of roster turnover if you hit on your drafts every year. Sadly we missed for about 4 years straight. The key is that first post rookie contract to keep guys in their primes. You still need to retain your stars, which we haven't done. You replace system guys. If you look at the Ravens, they have retained all their key defensive players over the years and replaced the interchangeable parts. That's how you stay successful for a decade with a stud D every year.

The proposition put forth here is that having experienced players is a good thing and it is even better if continuity is enhanced by the players gaining that experience with your team.

It says the Chargers have very few returning starters. Very few 2012 starters. And very little experience on the defense. Its stating the obvious but I think given the high turnover, little experience/continuity and new coaching staff and scheme it shows that we should expect growing pains.

I think it's a given that we have growing pains. The question that needs to be answered is if the growing pains will be worth it with the particular talent on the team. We have a ton of young guys starting. I hope they are the answer going forward.

I expect groing pains. I was the one saying a regiem change is not something you go into blindly long before Norv and AJ were fired. We all discused the turnover caused by a new GM wanting "his" players and the resulting turnover that followed. So here we are about were I expected. I also think most of us feel this way too.

This is one set of many analytics being used in pro sports today. There was an article about how Telesco likes to dabble in them. We also do this at my place of work (non sports). Always good to look at data, study trends, make informed decisions. But also important to not let a data set solely dictate your actions. There is a great temptation to let algorythms make tough decisions because they are tough decisions. I have seen it in practice. And computers make lousy personnel decisions.
