I'm assuming James will be long gone, and I'm picking realistic options at 17

I'm preparing myself, I honestly believe if Lamar Jackson is there at 17, he becomes a Charger.

I honestly believe that if Vita Vea or De'ron Payne was available they would have taken either one of those two. Hopefully we can get some D-Line help in the next few rounds. I was probably one of the biggest advocates in us getting a DT in the first round because of how bad our rush defense was. With that said I am very happy we got Derwin James because we could have one if the best if not thee best secondary in the NFL.

The DTs would definitely help the run defense but so does James. Having him back there instead of Boston is going to mean a lot less big plays from opposing RBs. James can actually take good angles, has speed, and make open field tackles. It won’t matter on every run play, but just limiting the big plays in the rushing game will make a huge difference.
