Agreed. Also this idea of trading him when his value is virtually nothing because of injuries over the past 2 years. Might as well see how he does this year health wise because when he is healthy he has all pro ability.. You dont just give that away

After deciding against drafting a quarterback through the first seven rounds, the Los Angeles Chargers brought in a former Texas Tech quarterback Nic Shimonek, our 11th-ranked signal-caller in the class, as an undrafted free agent. And despite his draft status, he has a strong chance to be much more than a camp arm.

While Big-12 defenses may have inflated his collegiate production, Shimonek ranked inside the top-five among draft-eligible quarterbacks in overall adjusted completion percentage (771.), adjusted completion percentage against the blitz (77.8) and deep-pass adjusted completion percentage (58.8) in 2017, metrics independent of defenses and rather more indicative of the quarterback individually. He also earned a career-high 86.3 overall grade this past season, ranking 18th among qualifying FBS quarterbacks.

Watching those highlights I already like him more then Jones and Smith. He sure can flip it downfield with ease.

Dude, flip is the EXACT right word! He shows almost no effort flipping the ball 40 yards down field.
He also looks like he has some lateral quickness as well, in that he's able to pop out of the pocket, right or left with little effort.
Very smooth.

Who gets cut and do we carry 3 QBs on the roster, I don't think we ever have in the past. If Shimonek plays well in the pre-season and shows the game isn't too big for him you can't hide him on the Practice Squad.

Going to be interesting because Smith may very well be cut, is Cardelle Jones eligible for the Practice Squad?

Last season... Cardale was on the 53 all season, along with Clemens. As good as Shimonek looks on those highlights, they were against porous Big-12 pass defenses,

Somebody is gonna get cut. We're lucky if one of the three has starter potential, even quality backup potential.
