I'm happy for him but sad to hear he will no longer be doing the broadcasts. IMO, he was one of the best color commentators in the business. He shared a lot of knowledge of offensive line play. It will be interesting to see who they get to replace him. I think we can rest assured it will not be Curtis Conway.
He'll still be on the radio in San Diego in the mornings. I've basically stopped listening to sports radio, except for his show, and for a few minutes with Darren Smith. All the rest are so-so. San Diego has 4 full time sports radio stations, but only one major league sports team, and the college teams. However, San Diego gets 3 NFL teams for radio play-by-play, along with the national broadcasts. Hopefully they will have a decent color guy to replace Hardwick... hopefully not a pass-through like Curtis Conway.
Off topic, a little, but KFMB-8 and iHeartRadio San Diego (namely 1360) will be up at training camp.
Just a though, but would people be ok with Rich Ornberger as Hardwick's replacement? Even though he wasn't a Charger for very long (he's mostly a NE player, IIRC), he understands the offense and does sound intelligent, but maybe not as much a homer than Nick.
