I May Disable Post Comments

Id like to see discussion about topics evolve. Comments sort of just stop it in its tracks. There is no quoting and continuation. Its just quick hits and its not good for us imo. We have thousands of comments that dont add to our post totals. Probably more comments than actual posts. I just think its better for us to kind o fgo back to our old school ways and engage with each other by quoting or tagging.

Im going to disable them temporarily and see how it goes.

I hope you all understand. Im just trying to eliminate the easy thing to do and help us engage each other a little more. I personally think the post comments have been bad for us. Not a big fan of VB adding these.

Actually, I was thinking the same. Comments can be good for posts that are a little off topic, but if members can use the isolated quotes they can make their point as well. But yeah, they can stop conversations cold. I'm just hoping that people are judicious in quoting entire posts before their response, or just direct the response to the poster.

Staff can still make comments. Maybe we can just use these for warnings etc. But to see a post get 5 comments is sad to me. That should be 6 posts. lol This place would have over 1M posts if comments counted towards the post total.

I thought if i disabled it....you would still see the "comment" button. But disabling it removes it. I wish i would have known this when we moved to V5. We would have so many more posts.
