(same as last week... he thinks the Chargers are overrated... Comments didn't change)

Sorry, I thought I was a member of the national media for a second. Yes. The Chargers only lost to the Rams and Chiefs. This is true. So what? They got blown out in both games. They barely beat C.J. Beathard at home. Their other three wins are against the Bills, who suck, the Raiders, who suck, and the Browns, who saw Baker Mayfield get hurt in the first quarter, and the Titans, who shot themselves in the foot repeatedly. None of those teams have winning records.

The Chargers can't defend the middle of the field, and their pass rush isn't very good. I don't trust their offensive line either, and they have a shaky coaching staff. They have reached obscene levels of overrated, and I can't wait to make money betting against them.

The Chargers -- who, at 5-2 aren't necessarily flying under the radar -- have yet to be considered under the heading " Super Bowl contenders." The wait for Joey Bosa continues, but his return -- whenever it comes -- should take the pressure off what has been a more-than-capable offense. Consider that the Bolts have racked up 18 sacks while recording five games with multiple turnovers in their seven contests without him thus far this season. Can you imagine how good they'll be with him?

Pete Prisco, CBS Sports 5 (LW 5)

They come off the bye with an interesting game against the Seahawks, who are playing well. The continued improvement on defense will decide how far they go.

The return of Joey Bosa will make a playoff contender a Super Bowl contender.

Can the Chargers be road warriors? With four of their next seven games on the road -- including two straight to start -- they will have to earn some victories away from L.A. in the second half of the season in order to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2013. The Chargers are 9-18 on the road since the start of the 2015 season, which ranks 25th in the NFL. -- Eric Williams

In this bye week, fans learned that Joey Bosa isn't suiting up next week like they expected, and that's okay. Frankly, the bigger concern was that a great opportunity at making a "Wembley is the best soccer stadium/home field we'll play in this season" joke was totally missed last week. Oh well, nobody would have read it anyways.

The Los Angeles Chargers might be the best team in the NFL that no one's talking about.

Partly, it's a matter of playing in the same division as the Kansas City Chiefs, whose offensive juggernaut has made them one of the league's most talked about teams.

Partly, it's a matter of playing in the same city as the undefeated Rams. To say that the Chargers haven't made a dent in the local market since moving up the California coast is an understatement. This is a team that plays in a soccer stadium in front of fans of their opponent on a weekly basis. This is a team that piped in crowd noise in practices earlier this month in preparation of a home game against the Raiders.

And partly, it's because many just aren't sure how good these Chargers are. They have beaten the teams they are supposed to beat, but LA's two losses are to the aforementioned Chiefs and Rams.

Still, 5-2 is 5-2, and as this ranking shows, the analysts at B/R aren't overlooking this team.

After a long history of blowing games late, Philip Rivers and the Chargers are now 11-0 SU since Week 11 of last year when holding a lead in the fourth quarter.

The Chargers took last week off after a close win against the Titans in London. They remind us of a Rams lite, leading the AFC in early-down efficiency passing the ball while being second in the conference in early-down efficiency running the ball. If this continues, they will be scary moving forward.

But half the league is absolute trash. I think rankings wise, maybe inflated, but the statistical ratings seem about right, except the 3rd ranked DVOA.
