I'm gonna wait until the season's over before deciding whether or not to jump on the Payton for HC bandwagon. But interesting to hear that the Chargers are one of two teams he's looking at.
Back in the day, I took care of many NFL Coaches and Players in the famous resort towns of the Panhandle. Sean Payton frequent our restaurant. He had a dinner meeting that was was able to listen to. He had several sports medicine and statistics specialist that discusses how to get peak performance out of players and what plays had the most efficiency. The way it sounded, was almost like Coach Payton was interviewing them for a job.

The Chargers would be very lucky to have him. The only way that works is Spanos gives up all control, not to mention pocket book. This is a long shot just from the way the family operates.

    • The Payton 'news' is probably in about 3 threads now. Any thing is possible, but the best place for this speculation is in 'Coach Staley' thread.

      • Id LOVE to have Sean Payton even if we make the playoffs so he can be our playcaller instead of Lombardi and just has more HC savvy than Staley but again, ive no faith Dean and JohnBoy would pay to get him.
And another good thing about Payton, is he probably would like another GM which we all think Telesco needs to go. Not that Payton would have the say on that, but TT needs to go. Just not aggressive enough for the playoff runs.

          • I guess Attaochu wasn't up to snuff.

              • I forgot to say in my transactions post: The practice squad has one opening. They may have been saving it for Rountree.

                  or for Jeremiah Attaochu.

Maybe their process relies on a model where everybody and their brother has to have their "vote". God forbid, I dealt with that type of mess when working in aerospace and it can drive you crazy. These little types of "details" do matter, as the difference between a win or a loss is often very thin, as we are all well aware.
Maybe it’s just the same old tired ass spanos bullshit, john instead of dean now, but the same old crap. You have people not on the coaching staff dictating in season roster moves and thus affecting the game day roster by limiting who the coach can play, cut, bench, and activate in the games. San Diego and now LA , AJ Smith and now TT, superstar QB and the team underperforming, and the only common denominator is ownership, and the team is being run exactly the same as it was in San Diego…

the chargers owners are ‘small market’

I thought he showed more than tuszka on defense which is odd because tuszka had a good 4-5 week (?) head start on attaochu in the defense but they kept tuszka instead…I was thinking tuszka might’ve proven more valuable on STs and your edge #4 plays a lot of STs?
