As Melvin Gordon's holdout continues, the Chargers will turn to second-year RB Justin Jackson, who has been productive his entire football career.

This article makes me wonder if it's wise to pay Gordon 10M? The three holdover backs still on the team are pretty darn good. They could draft a rookie RB in next years draft and have him at the rookie salary. When you consider it, it seems that it may be wise to replace your #1 RB every 3/4 years. Most RB's only last about five years in the NFL and the $$ could be spent better on the other positions.
I have been a strong advocate of that philosophy for a long time. Unless they are an all-time great or come out in a mid round at 21, i would not sign "lead" RBs to second contracts and any 2nd contract would be 3 yrs max.

I really doubt the team with tag Gordon next year. So he needs to get into camp now, play out his contract and be free to sign elsewhere next year.

If he comes back later and has his snap counts reduced because JJ is playing well, he just hurts himself in future negotiations.

Not only would this be the highest number of points scored in Tecmo Super Bowl (364-0) but this would be the longest video ever uploaded, let alone unedited,...

Yep. I've said, offer Gordon $8-9 mil a year, 3 year deal with an out after 2...he doesn't like it, tough...

I wonder if the Chargers will start fining him:

                  Gilbert Manzano@GManzano24
Melvin Gordon could be fined $329,705.88 for missing Thursday's exhibition in Arizona. Anthony Lynn impressed with RB Jeremy Cox. This contract dispute will pick up steam in the preseason #Chargers

Texans just traded for Duke Johnson from the Browns so Gordon's options continue to shrink.

Jeremy Cox has a great athletic profile.

As a football player, Steve is not enamored by the lack of wiggle.

That's a take from someone with a serious scout's eye.
