Revisiting Chargers 50th anniversary all best team

I think if this list were made now, it'd include Keenan Allen in for John Jefferson. Bosa, James, and Hayward continue to string a few more season and I'd put them in.

Sorry, but for me JJ was electric. Maybe it was just the time/place but he was always the guy that made the incredible catch.....

For me, Keenan is Mr. Reliable like Charlie Joiner.

I liked Billy Ray Smith, but I don't think he was ever special.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

          Agree F21.

Also, I will always pound the table
          for more and more accolades
          for Leslie O'Neal.

He is tied with Lawrence Taylor in career sacks.

Ditto here. Also if I remember correctly he was the first ever player to start out a career with 3 1000 yard 10+ TD seasons. Not 100% on that but I think so.

As I recall, Jefferson performed poorly in the three playoff games with the Chargers; a '79 loss,
                  and 1-1 in '80.

Jefferson was indeed special, but it seemed not just Allen, but his immediate replacement Wes Chandler
and in the Ross years, Tony Martin performed better in big-i.e. playoff games.

Had he stayed, we'll never know if he'd have shaken his playoff funk, but in Green Bay-he never had the
                  chance.

IMO, had Jefferson stayed, he would be in the HOF today.

One more thing concerning Leslie O'neal. I remember when he was drafted Don Coryell said he never dreamed O'neal would be available when the Chargers' pick came up. I think the same thing happened last year with Derwin James. In ten years I hope we will be looking at James as one of the best Bolt safeties ever. If his first year is any indication, that very well may happen.

I can't think of anyone better, for now. I think he's on a better path than Weddle or Harrison, but he does need to show that there ins't a sophomore jynx.

Can't say he played poorly from what I can tell. In his 3 playoff games in SD he caught 4-70, 7-102 and 4-71. The way the team spread the ball around those weren't bad numbers at all and within reason of his regular season numbers.
