2020 Senior Bowl: Tuesday Prospect Meetings Report - North Team

Here is a recap of the player interviews that were conducted on the field after Tuesday's practice by the North team. Sometimes these interviews with area scouts are to set up longer, formal interviews for a night during the week. Other times, these interviews are collecting background information on players. Scouts will ask about their family information, injury history, other sports they played going back to their youth, football knowledge, their thoughts on teammates and opponents, and questions about their college career. While teams say they "talk" to every player, teams do not take the time to conduct formal interviews with every draft prospect, so the ones that they do have formal meetings with can be a clue as to which players are on their radar.

Slotting meets PON.

The one-on-one portion of the practice is where Cushenberry shined the most. He was matched up against

Javon Kinlaw

and was able to stymie his hands and sink his hips in order to impede the process of the bigger Gamecock interior defender. The former LSU center passed the first day of practice with flying colors. Cushenberry stock continues to rise and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the leader of the unit that was received the Joe Moore Award (given to the nation’s best offensive line) enter the discussions as a top-40 selection.

Whenever i see one of these, all I can think of is that video of the Canadian college DT trucking a 160 lb Chargers asst coach and the forum lighting up with how awesome he was. Not a fair comparison, just my reflex. What was that cat’s name? Can’t recall, he flamed out too fast after we wasted a draft pick on him.

exactly. in retrospect, turns out its really not that hard for a DL-sized man to pancake a tiny asst coach over 100 lbs lighter than him, regardless of football ability. lesson learned tharrr.
