Statistically not possible to continually win one score games and 4th q comebacks. I think HOU won something like 6 games with at some pt in the 4th Q a greater than 90% chance to lose. i.e. they had a historically high luck factor last season.

Thank you. I do not disagree in principal, however last season's stats redeux seems improbable. Could go either way. We'll see. I'll be cheering on local kid, Kahale Waring from Sonora HS.

Mid Preseason 53 Man roster prediction:

          Offense (25 total)

          QB: Rivers, Taylor, Stick (3)

RB/FB: Ekeler, Jackson, Watt, Newsome, Pope (5)

WR: Allen, Williams, Benjamin, Scott, Patton, Davis (6)

          TE: Henry, Green, Culkin (3)

OL: Scott, Feeney, Pouncey, Lamp, Tevi, Quessenberry, Pipkins, Schofield (8)

          NFI: Okung
          DNR: Gordon

          Defense (25 total)

DT: Mebane, Jones, Tillery, Broughton (4) Out: Square, McGill

DE: Bosa, Ingram, Rochell, Peace, Lanier (5)

OLB: Davis, Nwosu, White, Egbule (4) Out: Brown

          ILB: Perryman, Tranquill, Wilson (3)

CB: Hayward, King, Davis, Facyson, Williams (5) Out: Richards, Springs

FS/SS: Jenkins, Phillips, Adderley, Teamer (4) Out: Watkins, Pickett

          IR: James

          ST: Badgley, Long, Mazza (3)

Need to see more from Pope before edging out Newsome, but for now keeping both. Otherwise cut one and maybe keep Brown or Square, or Gordon if he returns. Wilson getting a lot of time with the 1's is telling. With all the additions to LB, not sure I see a big role for Brown, and I liked what I saw from Wilson in the Saints game. Keeping guys who can rush and get sacks is a no brainer, so Peace to backup Ingram and Lanier to backup Bosa and add length to the DL. Never been big on Richards or Watkins, Teamer can play both safety and slot corner and be a Special Teamer.

I think they keep only 4 for RB, and keep 5 at safety with Watkins because of what happened with James. Trying to see who else to cut because of I don't trust Pipkins at swing tackle.

You're probably right, Xeno, but Detrez or Pope sure would be a tough cut...If Pope continues to show good runbacks and runs in PS #3-4,, he probably sticks...

I agree with the list except for OLB and the safety spot. Brown is better than Egbule. One of Watkins or Pickett will make it to compensate for the loss of DJ.

Pope deserves to make it. Especially considering the punt return TD he had. Someone other than King is going to have to take the return duties. King plays defense, and you don't want to get him too fatigued or exhausted.

Agree. I've always preferred having a backup handling return duties--fresh legs in there for the return, plus less risk of an injury to a starter...

Per Popper DIME D has Rayshawn staying put at FS,
Adrian moving from SS to NLB,
                    and Watkins inserted at SS.

This sounds right ("hire the vet")
and is a look we should see about half of the time
when we are out there on defense.

                      Where do we play Adderley?
I guess he'll play limited snaps in several different responsibilities until he shows how & where he fits best.

Adderley will have to be brought along slowly now,
with the hammy slowing his growth IMV.
