Drue Tranquill's strengths were on full display in his first preseason action

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS NFL FEATURED TOOLS
Rookies received the bulk of the workload in Week 1 of the NFL preseason, which remains an excellent opportunity to showcase their skillset. Los Angeles Chargers rookie linebacker Drue Tranquill accomplished that, shocking no one, as he left Notre Dame and with quite the lengthy resume.
Tranquill entered the 2019 NFL Draft as the fifth-ranked linebacker on PFF's Big Board, but before that, he produced a year in which he earned an 80.9 overall grade, aiding Notre Dame's run to the College Football Playoff.
When looking at his two-year production, Tranquill played 350-plus coverage snaps in each of the last two seasons and surrendered zero touchdowns on 87 targets. His 92.5 two-year coverage grade ranks first among FBS linebackers with 100-plus snaps. Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
The Wasted Decade is done.
Build Back Better.

Drue could be a big pickup for this D. Health concerns likely allowed us to draft him that low.... didn't the dude have several severe knee injuries? But our LB corp was decimated by injury in 2018... the addition of Thomas and Drue should really help the team get thru 2019. Color me intrigued despite the fact that it was just a preseason game.

LB is a very deep position. Quite the opposite of how 2018 ended. My 2021 Adopt-A-Bolt List

Yeah, if he returns to form and Nwobu improves then the addition of Thomas makes it a much deeper and more talented squad than we had near the end of 2018. I am also interested in how the new DTs perform alongside an improved JJ. Now that Bosa is truly healthy this D front could loom very large for our opponents.
