Again a player who is a team's nickel DB is the 11th starter on defense in terms of time spent on the field. More importantly, a nickel player is in position to make a play on the ball far more often than players who play in the base D, where teams tend to play, safe, low risk plays.

King is among the best slot DB in all of football. He is a little limited in the sense that he is not going to be the type of player who can play man to man as an outside CB, and that would hold his salary down some, but he is great in zones, and he makes plays vs TE, WR, RB and anyone else who lines up in the slot, plus he is an effective edge blitzer. If he has one other weakness, he could be a better tackler. He and Phillips are the key to the dime D, which has be the cornerstone of the defense under Bradley.
