is it me or does he seem to have a lot more zip on his ball this year? he also looks leaner.
Rivers' arm

QB's arms are always fresh in the beginning of camp. He'll probably start to look more normal in terms of arm strength as time goes by.
The lean is something that I think many of us have suspected. If you remember, McCoy made some cracks about controlling what players eat, then there was the weight limits and changes in conditioning. I think the whole team is going to be trying to lose some body fat and play more lean. Just a guess, but probably an accurate one.

I remember this from LAST year, because there was all the speculation about him being injured the year before.
People were saying Rivers had much more zip on the ball.
Now, he may be leaner...which is probably good...but I don't read too much into his arm being "live"."...of course that's just my opinion, I could be wrong."

I don't think his physical shape has had anything to do with his on field performances. He has always thrown a nice ball, great touch, his accuracy has developed nicely after some initial problems with short passes.
As far as his physique, he is not a guy who is incredibly ripped or anything. He doesn't have imposing look, but he is a QB, so that really doesn't matter. I hope he is a little leaner, but it's not like it will make him a threat to run. If he ever scores another rushing TD again (I think he did against Den a couple of years ago), then it will be because the defense got caught off guard.
His problem that he has had is just decision making. He has been forcing passes, trying to make plays not there, throw from bad positions where he can't get enough zip on the ball.
I'm not saying Rivers is better or not. It's just too early to tell anything. Lets see how his body reacts to TC, how he reacts to the new O. He seems to be handling it well. But that only means anything if a guy is struggling. If you are struggling with a new offense that is a really bad thing. If you do OK with a new offense, it may be that you aren't doing it well enough, but haven't been tested enough yet. Our O is just to the point where they passed the tests that they have had so far. Nice, but not really anything important yet.
