FOOTBALL STARTS AND ENDS IN THE TRENCHES.... The opposition will attack your weakness. Our 2012 wekness was quite obvious to any casual observer.

Those are both valid comments, but AJ didn't do that. He went after other WR's out of spite it seems since he spent the same amount of dollars essentially.

If AJ had gone after other positions, we would be in a better situation right now. Sadly that's not what happened, thus we are having this conversation.

yeah, AJ should've been satisfied with only 3 wrs (Floyd, Brown, Goodman) on the roster last year.

Street FA's would of had better stats than Royal/Meachum.

        Oh wait, they did.

It's funny....everyone in this little debate has valid points:

            - Vincent Jackhole is a talent
            - He contributed, in a vary large way, to the Chargers deciding to not tender him a long-term deal
            - No way he would have put up the numbers he did in Tampa last year in San Diego
            - Jackhole >>> Meachump + Royal
            - AJ Smith should have traded him to Minnesota for the rumored 2nd-round draft choice

Really...this board wastes far too much bandwidth on ex-Chargers (see: Jackhole and Norv threads).

If Spanos hadn't messed with Leslie O'Neal, O'Neal would have put forth the effort to be one of the greatest defensive players of all time.

No, he didn't. To say that he was "always productive" is indefensible. And my argument is that last year with an O-line that was so bad that we had to stop throwing the ball downfield, which is where VJ was at his best, lessons the impact he would have had on the team.
