    The Running Game

Here are our stats running the ball in the 5 games this year:

vs Colts: 21 rushes for 125 yards and a 6.0 average
vs Lions: 25 rushes for 137 yards and a 5.5 average
vs Texans: 18 rushes for 73 yards and a 4.1 average
vs Dolphins: 33 rushes for 79 yards and a 2.4 average
vs Broncos: 16 rushes for 35 yards and a 2.2 average

The numbers have gotten steadily worse. Do you think it is other teams adjusting to what we are doing and we are not responding? Or are we just not executing? I know Jackson had some big runs in his limited carries but we have really struggled the past two weeks and I think we really need some balance on offense.

run game needs 25+ to get in rythm

I dont know if its Whiz calling 40+ pass plays or Rivers audible out of run plays, but it stinks.

Force feeding Gordon won't work. They need to ride Ekeler in the running game too, not just in the passing game.

Gordon still falls down many times at the first contact while Ekeler usually breaks the first tackle and then falls forward during the second or third tackle picking up positive yardage in the mean time.

And the Chargers run so much better with Watt in the i-formation yet we hardly do it.
Tom Telesco’s Results in 9 years as Chargers GM:

          - 69-74 record
          - 0 division titles in 9 yrs as GM
          - Worst record among all active GMs with same tenure
          - 6th worst winning percentage among all active GMs overall
          - 2 playoff wins despite elite QB all 9 yrs
          - Team still has the same weaknesses (Oline and run defense) that it had when hired as GM in 2013
          - Consistently puts together horrible depth, expects starters to never miss games

The running game sucks. Point blank. Denver was susceptible big time and the Chargers had what 45 yds? Gordon isn't a premier back. He will not silence his critics. Ekeler is used wrong. The running plays are predictable. Watch a guy like Marlon Mack who is smart enough to wait for holes to open. Gordon runs into a pile. I'm sick of it. Its futile. We should have let him walk. I hope to see Jackson return soon.

they tried to let mg walk but no one wanted him so we were stuck with him. i suppose the team coulda lowered their demands for mg but dunno if any team would wanna pay him what he thought he was worth.

I think we are missing JJ as well. Ekeler is only averaging 3.8 ypc. JJ has brought that up and he hasn't played the last two games where we are under 3 ypc.
Gordon is Rusty and needs a bit of time to get in a rythem.

This team is not great and has many problems......our defense has slowly been getting a little bit better but our offense has been getting worse every week...... till yesterday where our offenses basically disappeared.....

Our HC is an ex career long RB coach..... and he has been working hard at making the Chargers into a pure RB oriented offense......

Our OL is horrible but run block better than pass block.......

This offense might be the slowest offense in NFL....... no urgency.... we walk slowly to the huddle, we use up all 45 seconds of every play clock even when behind by 3 scores, which also causes Chargers to waste many TO's because we run out tf time.......... we have no speed that scares anyone..... we have a team of possession type receivers.... and our RBs are good but none are blazing fast......
this offense has no TE..... we have a few blockers but no one being used to catch the ball..... every good our great offense has and uses TE's to open up the passing game....

by far the majority of our offense this season are hand offs to RB's, or dump off passes to RB's....... after seeing this for 4 weeks it was not hard for DEN to learn all they had to do was stop our RB's/cover our RB's and they could win easily..... which they did....

Its obvious our coaches are now afraid of throwing the ball past the LOS or into the end zone....... in yesterdays redzone situations, the Chargers only threw a ball into end zone once and that was picked.... all other passes were dumped off outside of the end zone...... praying that our RB's would break a tackle and get in..... some of the replays showed that all of our receivers were running routes outside of the end zone ..... not even running routes inside as a decoy???? real easy for DEN to defend end zone when no chargers are in it?????

Why do we even have TE's and WR's on this roster when our coach only wants to use the RB's......?

Why does whiz keep putting Taylor on the field in some keys situations and then just hand of to a RB.....for no gain...... wasting a valuable down.......if Taylor is in game, he should bet running with the ball rolling out or doing naked bootleg...... stupid coaching.....

Its so much a shame that Rivers has been paired with so many super conservative coaches that have been slowly coaching all of Rivers passing magic has been coached out of him..... they have Rivers scared to throw the foot ball...... turning him into a dump off charlie.........ruinging a great career.....

The uninformed media who don't really watch the Chargers play suggested the difference between this years Chargers team and last years, is we desperately miss Hunter henry....... being clueless that we won games last year without him....... how does a team miss a player that has never done anything..... never played enough to have an impact?.....

Against a horrible MIA team, our horrible offense managed just 3 TD's???? and a few FG's...... in an entire game...... most other teams do more than that in the first half alone, so game is never close....... Chargers prefer to give the other team every chance to get back into game.....

Gordon should have been traded for OL help......or CB/LB help period.......

a few years ago, Chargers should have hired/promoted Reich and got rid of Whiz......

Why do Spano's always force new HC's to accept whatever cheap coordinators we already have on staff..... no matter how bad they are.....
Spanos's dont like eating a contract.......

Agree that our offense needs balance, but it does not need to be a 50-50 thing....... this team should be a primarily pass oriented offense, especially early in games sop that were can build up a huge lead then use the running game to finish off teams in 2nd half......if the passing game becomes great again, it will open up the run......

Our defense is another story....... lack of tackling is a huge problem...... we allowed a team that was struggling to score effortlessly...... I've never seen an NFL team tackle so poorly...... until we learn to tackle, we can expect EVERY team to run and run and run all over us till we lose or stop them...... Steelers should run for 150+...... easily on this team....

Chargers coach needs to get some of that Tomlin intensity/reaction to losing due to stupid mistakes........ Chargers need a fire under them..... Even Rivwrs ;looks like he has had it with this coach hing staff...... and their horrible p[lay calling......
