    Film Study (Offense)

    Happy hump day fellow diehards.

Finally back after BSOD catastrophic failure
It was pleasent suprise to struggle and find bad plays. Having choices on good/great plays was a nice change.

So here it is: The Good, The Bad and The Great

    Play #1 The Good
Rivers calling protections and telling Gordon be rdy pre-snap. But he already knew where he was going with this ball. Notice how Phil keeps the safety away with his eyes and doesnt change to MWill unitl the last second. Quality Veteran QB play. O-line held long enough and Gordon chipped and was rdy for dump off should Phil have needed it. MWill does what he does best and high points the ball. All around good execution

    Play #2 The Bad
O-line struggles Trent Scott gets beat around the edge. Feeney misses the stunt inside not allowing Phil to step up into the pocket which would have helped Scott outside. Phil wanted left side and never looked at open Henry until it was too late. IF Phil had another second he might have got it HH but MLB was looming

    Play #3 The Great
If you didnt jump from your chair screaming about this play, you got no pulse. Anthony Lynn put his stamp on this game and this team with this play call. Took points off the board to pump his teams confidence and change the tone of the season.
This play all starts with #72 Ryan Groy. This dude seals the inside and opens the hole. Virgil Green with excellent block switching to provide not 1 but 2 double team blocks on this run. This allows Watt to switch his block off the double team and onto the safety in the hole. Feeny pulls clean outside to get the corner. Gordon was supposed to follow Watt outside and with some patience he could have walked in for easy TD. But he wanted this TD. He wanted it so bad he cuts inside to the hole opened by Groy and has an Oklahoma drill with the LB coming across. This is run blocking perfection and a thing of beauty.

Play number one demonstrates that MW's ability to make plays downfield
diminishes the need for a Travis Benjamin.

The crucial space underneath is created,
as defenders must give MW attention.

We can outscore teams with our distinct combination of playmakers.

Don't forget that--when it all works, we can stay with anybody.

      LAC are dangerous.
We do not play modern football.

that run play on the last one reminded me of the nose LT had for the endzone.

That last one is a G Iso all the way (alley, not outside). GB played it lazy imo, if I'm their D coach I'm pissed. Curious as to Green's work there, but Chargers did enough. A more "enthusiastic" LB hits Gordon at the 1 or 2 yard line. Green (imo) was supposed to double down to the backside.

Simple play and executed fairly well.

Ryan Groy: Only 1.5 sacks allowed in over 5 YEARS:

              image.png

Okay, so 17 starts total, but still, not bad at all!

No, the pulling guard is kicking out and Watt essentially is running a lead (iso) block. The BS ILB is unblocked, and that's where I'd guess Green is supposed to come off the double and get him.

Though you gotta move the big guys first, so staying on doubles isn't the end of the world, let the RB truck the LB.
