First, thanks again, Beerman for all your reports. Most appreciated.

In reviewing the photos of camp, it appears during the padded practices few to no players are wearing the thigh and knee pads I thought the NFL was going to make mandatory this season. Has that been the case? If so, wonder why McCoy not forcing them to wear them? He seems to be focused on making things in camp as much like games as possible. I know players don't like them so they need to get used to them. I played high school football and to be honest cannot imagine playing without them. But I was a skinny safety and split end and the hits to the quads and knees maybe hurt me more than a beefy NFL guy.

One thing that will never change is teams letting guys get tackled to the ground. No team will ever do that in practice. There are just way too many injuries that results. And if you can't take guys down to the ground, they probably don't want a lot of hitting around the knees.

Makes sense, but I am more concerned about players getting used to wearing those pads, regardless of them getting hit or not. If they wait until game time, they are going to feel uncomfortable in them. Perhaps making a big deal out of nothing, but then I read Jammer and other players really getting ticked off about being forced to wear them.

Players trying to make the team want to best as fast as possible, so they won't want to wear pads.

To be honest I didn't really pay attention to the pads. I do recall quite a few of the wr/cb's wearing them though. Were you watching pics from Sat/Sun? I think those have been the only full pad practices so far.

Also what Steve said. None of the guys get tackled and taken down.
