Eagles WR Riley Cooper Racist?

I always struggle with apologies when someone gets caught. Especially in regards to racial comments. This guy seems pretty comfortable using the N word.

Eagles WR Riley Cooper has admitted to using a racial slur, and issued a lengthy apology.
"I am so ashamed and disgusted with myself," Cooper began. "I have apologized to my coach, to (owner) Jeffrey Lurie, to (GM) Howie Roseman and to my teammates. ... I am so ashamed, but there are no excuses. What I did was wrong and I will accept the consequences." It's unclear if Cooper will face league discipline, either in the form of a fine or suspension, but we would guess yes. Punishments tend to be harsh when the league is in the midst of a rash of negative publicity, which the NFL has been all summer. It's unlikely to affect Cooper's status with the Eagles, but we wouldn't rule it out. The biggest effect may be the chilling one it has on Cooper's relationship with his teammates.

I think there is some serious hypersensitivity due to the whole Paula Deen crucifixion IMO. I just hate the double standard. Some of my black teammates used that word practically at the end of every sentence back in the day.

I know most everyone has said things in private. Imagine if your work found out and fired you over something like that when it was your personal time. Is it stupid? Of course. Was he drunk and stupid? It sure looks like it. But being an idiot isn't against the law last time I checked.

I think that hypersensitivity is more the sponsors trying to cover their asses when the media decides to sensationalize something.

I agree everyone deserves forgiveness. But seriously it seemed to just roll off his tongue. I think personally it brought back some memories i have of living in the South many years ago. Most guys i knew were really down on African Ameicans. The N word was used often. KKK rallies on the freeway etc.

I didnt even think of the Paula Dean situation when i saw this video. I call guys white trash all the time though. So i might have a problem. lol
