Remember when Deano was considering Andy Reid as head coach in 2013? Then Andy told Deano his asking price and Deano made the bold choice to announce Mike McCoy as head coach because cheap.

I like the fact that Charger ownership is taking an aggressive stance. Get really aggressive and trade next year's #1 away for Burrow.

It will take much more than 2 #1s.

Yep. It's gonna cost quite a bit. Even then I'm not sure they'll budge.

Depends on which draft value chart you use. It is worth keeping in mind that NO TEAM has every acknowledge using either of these draft value chart. Some teams acknowledge they have created their own (maybe, maybe just use what is out there) and some, like TT claim to "just have a feel for it".

So called Jimmy Johnson chart (definitely not from JJ though, it is just named after him because he used it) -> https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2014/5/...de-value-chart
On this chart it would basically take This years #1, next years #1, this years #2, and some other stuff.

Harvards more recent Reanalysis of draft value - > https://www.bloggingtheboys.com/pages/the-harvard-trade-value-chart
For that, just our #1 this year and next year.

And the usual disclaimer, don't take the values too seriously. Teams know that because any given team has a discreet value available, they can't match values one to one.
THat is because, which is a useful approximation, it does not account for the discretization problem (see above), or the fluctuations in any given draft due to position availability and/ needs.

I've said something similar. Topcat is a to the T draft chart user lol. But its just a very basic guide that is in no way set in stone.

If a team don't want to trade they can ask for 4 #1's to see if you bite. If they do want to trade they may settle for two #1's and a 2nd using our draft slot as an example.
The Bengals aren't a smart franchise so i woukdnt be surprised at them trading out of #1. Who knows, they may love Herbert more than Burrow.

True, and that is my impression of what the Bengals are looking for. Of course, at this point, I doubt any team has really done their due diligence on the QB class to know who they like and what they think of everyone. And in a case where you might want to trade down (for a huge haul of picks), knowing what the rest of the class looks like is pretty important.

Flip side is that it is really tough for a team like the Bengals to give up that many picks. More so than some other teams. Most GM have to consider that they may not still be with the team when those picks come along to save their jobs. Mike Brown (and Jerry Jones) may have a different perspective since they are the owners and GM. They will still be owners and GM unless something much worse happens.

It is also worth remembering that Mike Brown was the guy that Bill Walsh got on his side to sell Kenny Anderson as the franchise QB when they drafted him in the 3rd round out of Augustana, in an era when small college guys didn't get picked until the 10th plus round. Many NFL teams didn't consider Anderson because the film of him was so bad it made some front office people found it unwatchable. The point is that Brown may feel he has some pedigree as a QB scout, so if he likes the other QB's, he may be willing.

Don't forget, Derek Carr is building his new house right next door to Jon Gruden's new house in Vegas.

Thanks, Jolt. Everyone knows that the Draft Value Chart is an approximation, but still, it does give us something to go by. What bothers me is when a team gives up multiple picks for players who are of questionable value, like the Hester trade up.
