    I wonder how much we'll miss his blocking?

      Hopefully not with a newly improved OL. I remember last year HH was asked to stay at the LOS on a lot of plays to help our sorry OL.

        Well considering we drafted McKitty in the 3rd round, hopefully not much.

          Good question. This OL should not need as much help, they should be able to scheme some up when needed but HH was a good fit.

            McKitty is a ++ blocker.

            This will be seen as a Charger draft to remember.

              This crowd will forget all about HH by the 3rd game. (Not sure which season, but they will forget)

                  IMO, there is *no* carryover Charger who has benefitted MORE from the Chargers' offseason talent acquisitions than Austin Ekeler. At least as much as Justin Herbert has benefitted.

                  Ekeler managed to produce more than respectable numbers while operating behind what was by most accounts the *worst* o-line in the entire NFL. The revamping of the line will result in better numbers for Austin in both phases of the offense.

                  Players like Linsley and Slater get to the 'second level', and throw blocks at linebackers that, to this point, Ekeler could only dream about.

                  Likewise, when Ekeler is on the receiving end of a swing pass, he'll have a bruiser like McKitty helping clear a path.

                  I'm trying not to get overly pre-emptively excited about what Ek will be able to accomplish this season.

                      Let's say ball carriers. Ek for sure, but Joe won't just pound the rock with him. They'll want to keep Ekeler's legs fresh & keep him involved in the passing game.

                        With better pass blocking, I see the ball going downfield more often with less passes to Eks.
                        Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

                          Maybe less frequently, but most likely, more efficiently.

                          Spreading the ball around also distributes the wear-and-tear more evenly, which is never a bad thing.
