For them, the Cap is just a suggestion.

Josh Lambo to sue Urban Meyer

Let's stroll down NFL memory lane, shall we? In 2003, Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio brought a tree stump and an axe into the locker-room to demonstrate the axiom of 'keep chopping wood.' Punter Chris Hanson boldy accepted that challenge and picked up that ax, swung it at a tree stump, missed and hit himself in the leg, leaving blood all over the locker room and he ended the season on IR.

My point is, Chris Hanson had a case. Josh Lambo does not.

Josh Lambo certainly has a case. If everything we have heard about him is true, he did create a hostile work environment. Plus An employer physically striking an employee at work, then threatening to do so again in response to resistance is illegal under Florida civil and criminal law

Lambo sets a new NFL record with the most unmasculine lawsuit in NFL history.

Everyone should sue Urban. Not just players he injured or fellow coaches he abused, or even all of the waitresses he creepily grinds on while his team flies home without him after a loss. Literally all of us, one at a time, for the rest of his wretched existence. Every single remaining day of his miserable presences on this planet, someone should drag him into another hearing, another court. Fuck that guy.

the NFL cap is very malleable. Its like a candy that is hard on the outside but soft in the center

yes, there is a number at the top that is a "hard cap"
But how teams get there can be varied

for instance, the Mathieu contract - he signed for on paper and in print 3 for 33 (or 30) with 18 guaranteed

But in reality, the Saints have already added "void years" to allow the signing bonus to be over 5 years and not three. So the saints already know in 2025 and 2026 - they have dead money. No way around it - it was paid out - its on their books

So the NFL allows team to rob from the future and pay now. The Chargers have been very good about this. And granted, with their record, they shouldn't have cap issues like the Giants
But next year, that changes. Right now, obstensibly, if you add in the 22 draft class second year, the 2023 draft class on their contracts and players need that make up the 53 man roster, even at the league minimum the Chargers are OVER the cap or very close to being over last I looked

Very close to over is not over at all. I didnt’ understand the chargers record compared to the Giants? Wasn’t quite tracking - what did you mean?

cap rules allow betters to bet, and rob from the future as you say. Chargers have traditionally NOT stacked out year ridiculous cap numbers for a benefit now. I agree with that approach generally. Some teams load up on long bonus-based contracts and when players don’t work - they are stuck under a rock. Its hard under there. But for that steady low-risk approach to ever win, TT has to build a competent roster the old fashioned way. He has always been a couple to a handful of players away. This year sure looks closest in his tenure. Taking 10 years to do it means he’s not great at it.

It's early, he's able to pass deep, they'll build chemistry, it just won't ever be Mahomes/Hill chemistry.

They'll build all the chemistry they want, just as long as Hill doesn't venture further than 35 yards down field.

Someone will offer Miami a 4rth near the end of the season.
Probably KC, who somehow will find cap space for that enormous contract.
