Tua threw a lot of downfield passes in college, and so many fans expected him to do that in the NFL. Now, everyone thinks he has a weak arm, any sign of that will get a huge amount of scrutiny. That is the NFL for you.

As far as the cap goes, you can put off the cap implications for a while, but all the tricks teams use delay the problem, you can't avoid it forever. Teams like NO and Dallas this year had to ditch players they wanted to have, because you can only do it so long. Some teams are willing to do it, but others are not.

The Chargers have not mortgaged the future to field a good team now, at least not historically. Should we have????

Even now, next year is kind of a mixed bag. Looking at over the cap, we are $8 mill over the cap next year in the effective sense. We can get back to breaking even, but we still need some cap space for rookies (our rookie pool this season is $8.8 mill, and that is pretty low, since we traded out #2 pick this season), so being $8 million over in the effective sense is really more like $16-20 million over, depending on where we draft.

And with the way QB salaries are going up, we might want to sign JH sooner rather than later. QB are a good place to look for restructuring opportunities. They are high risk (ask Washington about the Alex Smith deal) to a point, but most QB are not going to do too much stupid stuff off field, so if you want to keep kicking the can down the road with your QB< there is less risk at that position than with a lot of other positions.

Broncos' Jerry Jeudy arrested on misdemeanor after dispute
Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was arrested Thursday on a misdemeanor charge after a dispute with his girlfriend at their suburban Denver home and he was being held at the Arapahoe County Jail, which is next to the team's training complex. According to a police report submitted to the Arapahoe County court, Jeudy’s girlfriend, Antoinette Tharp, told a deputy that “things got crazy” with Jeudy on Wednesday night and he put her wallet and medical paperwork for their infant child in his car at their home so she could not get them. According to the document, Jeudy admitted to locking some things in his car, including baby formula, because Tharp took one of his three cell phones and would not give it back.

This was a typical Tua touchdown pass at Alabama: it goes from the line of scrimmage at the 15 to the 50 (35 yards).
I watched every Tua deep pass that year, and none (as in zero) traveled farther than 35 yards down field.

I brought it up on the forum during that offseason's draft process and no one expressed any interest in that fact.

They hit the NFL running, with those padded bank accounts accrued from playing at Alabama, and free of Nick Saban's iron hand.

13 teams have 5 primetime games: Bills, Bengals, Broncos, Buccaneers, Chargers, Chiefs, Cowboys, Eagles, Packers, Patriots, Steelers, Rams, and 49ers

The Broncos got too much love. They finished last in the AFC West last year.

This might be the worst Steelers team in 20 years, it's going to be annoying to see them in primetime so often.
