We all could see Chenna growing in his duties, so I'm sure the coaches could too.
Chenna gradually improved but let's not pretend he was some rock star DE here - he wasn't. Would he have been great depth here? Sure, but he got a chance to start in Seattle, something he wouldn't do over Bosa or Mack here so this notion we should have just kept him is a bit of a stretch.

This is true but maybe not all his fault as he's doing theatre level rock start DE work in Seattle. The issue is Mack isn't delivering much more than Chenna at a much higher cost and Mack is 5 years older

So, are you saying we should only keep guys that will be starters?

Considering the injury to Bosa, it sure would have been nice to have Chenna still on the team.

Those are the guys you miss?

Naanee's last memory for me was him dropping his name to a cop after asking " do you know who I am" :chuckle:

            Oh wow. Never heard that.
I wish I was the officer there.

"Yes, aren't you that 'all hype no production' guy holding my team back??"

The issue is that he's a better player for the Seahawks than he was for the Chargers. The question is, why?

He showed flashes with us last season. I wouldn't of minded him back but some were saying he would get 12 mil a year. Too much.

No, I'm saying people are assuming he'd be content to resign here as a backup rather than sign somewhere else where he could start, which is what he did.

That is a different question - some guys take longer to develop, some take to different coaching styles and sometimes coaches suck.
