Why is it crazy to commute instead of uprooting your family if you have a choice? I would absolutely do the same thing if I could. He had to spend a couple of hours every day watching film and could just as easily do it in his custom limo as sitting in a film room at the facility. Sometimes I think you guys just look for shit to pile on about.

Gross, so the Chargers kick him out this year and some people are complaining about him moving his family out of SD after knowing he won’t be there this year and it’s a problem? Just haters. Hope he wins a Super Bowl In Indy to throw it in the silly haters and Spanii’s face.

Rivers was always a team first guy who did everything right for the community, the team and his family. To question that is just sour grapes and unbecoming.

        Unbecoming eh?
what about rooting for other teams to win a superbowl?
To spite other Charger fans who don’t think Rivers is absolutely perfect
        would that qualify for unbecoming?

Based on the responses I’m seeing, I’m sure I misrepresented my position.
It’s difficult to articulate my exact point
regardless, I appreciate the spark I’m seeing in Rivers’ defense.
honestly, genuinely, one of my all time favorite football players, I think I’m allowed to be bothered a bit by a few things about him.
As Jerry Jones would say, “I’ve earned that right”

I'll root for Rivers to win a Super Bowl. Not necessarily out of spite - i rooted for LT when he went to the Jets; but because he
was a great Charger whose talent was wasted here. The Spanos getting eggs on their face only sweetens the deal.

I love watching Rivers talk trash at opponents. (Instead of trash maybe we should call it compost.) For 15 seasons I rooted for Rivers with a lightning bolt above his ear. I can root for him at least one more with a horseshoe. After all, its not like it's a helmeted head with crossed swords.

Now, taking this topic back to Cam Newton. I say sign him. He would bring a little 'bling' back to the team that might focus the Hollywood spotlight on SoFi, encourage ticket sales, intrigue the LA media, and entice the fickle LA sports fan. He might even win a few games, if not a ton.

Also, I do not like the draft QB options. I feel that Herbert is a talent reach and Tua is an injury reach anywhere in the top 20 or so picks.

If signing Cam keeps TT/AL/Spanos from reaching for a QB at #6 or even worse, trading up, I say sign Cam Newton!

I think we should wait until after the draft to make a decision on Cam. After all, it's not like anyone is beating down his door.

If we get one of the Big 3 at QB with the #6 pick (or even maybe Hurts at #37), then I wouldn't worry about signing Cam.

If we go a different direction at #6, then it would make sense to sign him (if he'll sign a reasonable, performance-based incentive laden contract) in order to help fill those newly minted seats.

I think we'd be fine without him, though.

Mike Florio and Chris Simms discuss how it is a 'no brainer' to bring in Cam Newton for the Chargers.
They say the Chargers have the horses to win now - don't get a rookie qb to set up the next regime (GM/headcoach).
Tyrod Taylor limited: can get you to the playoffs, but won't win playoff games with him.

The Chargers remain behind Tyrod Taylor even with Cam Newton available, but Los Angeles will need to get Taylor plenty of support in the draft to help the fr...

I respect both Floria and Simms and
I think it's a valid point and worth considering
I can likely be talked into it, but I think Tua gives you a chance year 1 and a better chance than Cam every year after.

Very different between being perfect and doing the right Right thing when asked.

Oh I’ll always root for Rivers because Ive rooted for him for 16 years of my life and I’ve watched him lay everything anyone could ask for down for this team. The guys went above and beyond for the Chargers many times and that deserves loyalty. What doesn’t deserve loyalty is consistently bad team building, poor personnel decisions and bad ownership but here we are.

If it’s unbecoming for me to support a player who has put it all out there for this Charger team including his long term health, his time with his family (above what a normal player would do) and his Enormous passion for the game, well then I’ll be unbecoming.

But you blaming rivers for moving his family after Being dumped by the Chargers after being loyal for the last 16 years, Is the same things I’m sure of it.

                          :sigh:
