I live in Utah and so far we have been pretty lucky and are doing okay here. Social distancing as much as possible but definitely leery of what the next couple of weeks could bring.
The kids are home from school but doing the on-line school daily which we have some experience with from our year long road trip a couple of years ago. Trouble is that softball, dance and gymnastics are all on hold and that is harder to deal with for my girls than the school craziness.
My wife owns an engineering recruiting firm and she mostly works from home anyway so luckily she is still rolling. Companies will always need engineers. (Any engineers looking? Let me know.)
I am a real estate appraiser and I am busier than I have been in 15 years (refis), which is bittersweet because obviously I have to enter into people's homes. I call ahead and make sure they open all doors, turn on all lights and wear rubber gloves. Not sure it is enough but it's really all I can do. Fannie Mae just issued a guideline allowing investors to accept exterior only appraisals but we will see if lenders actually permit it, either way, I just have to be careful like all of you do.
I realize we are blessed, especially when considering what some of you are going through physically, emotionally and financially. For those working to get us through this, THANK YOU! For those of you who are or have been affected negatively, health and happiness to you! This will end...we all just have to find the best way to ride it out.
