I posted an intro post earlier today, and, for my second-ever post, I wanted to break down the Chargers roster (https://www.chargers.com/team/players-roster/) by position to help focus on the team's needs:

Some notes:

(1) As far as I know, Trent Scott and Isaac Rochell (exclusive-rights free agents) have not signed their tenders, but I assume they will, so I've included them on the roster.

(2) The Chargers have clear needs at QB, RB, LT, WR3, maybe TE3 (where are you, Pete Holohan?), and DE (even with some snaps by Nwosu). They lost Anthony Lanier, who signed with Kansas City after the season. I don't know if the Chargers tried to re-sign him; he looked good in training camp last season.

(3) The Chargers didn't offer contracts to restricted free agents Sean Culkin and Spencer Drango and exclusive-rights free agents Dylan Cantrell and Troymaine Pope.

Bosa + Ingram...you list DE as position of need.

Allen + MWilliams...you list WR#3.

At OLT, it seems to me, we either will draft a day 1 starter, or stand pat. No need to slow the development of Pipkins, and there are a lot of other candidates as keepers besides.

I want a 1TECH #2 with pass rush skills. This is to augment Linval. We must have energy on the inside.

I've read Schofield was the best OL on the roster last season. That's not necessarily an endorsement, given the Bolts' OL last season, but I think his strength is consistency and being available every week.

With the lack of OL depth in the league everywhere, it doesn’t say too much for his skills if nobody wants him. And if he’s our best, that’s just plain sad. That is criminal negligence on the team‘s part to so underestimate the skill level at a critical position.

He wouldn’t start on our current O-line. But he can play anywhere on the line at an average level if someone goes down. He probably wants a lot more money.

Quarterbacks (2): Tyrod Taylor, Easton Stick * gonna stick w/an earlier assertion that the drafting of a QB would be a (big/huge) mistake, as given we have Bosa, Mel, Keenan and maybe even Bulaga now, who can't really be expected to be overly patient w/a Jason Verrettesque performance @QB (elite talent that just doesn't see the field enough), or a guy that just never quite gets his team over the hump, and no matter how well he fits AL's scheme or runs the O to a T.... really think Cam keeps the campers happier than not, and holds things down on (and off) the field 'til next year, when chances are good that there will be another/other QBs that we all fall in love with.

Running backs (2): Austin Ekeler, Justin Jackson * another assertion still held to, is that AL & Co. need a running back much more than any running QB.... too much talent to pass on here w/Swift and/or Cam.... the team needs a dynamic RB @the helm, as neither JJ nor Austin should be expected to carry anything close to the load.... (don't do it TommyJohn)

LT * Norton (hears a Who ?) * last time eye checked storms come and go, and would be surprised if this XFLer is much if any diff ?? do think we need an AT here, if not Jason Peters as a placeholder ??

LG * Forrest * will admit to thinking that Trent Scott might have been a decent insurance policy behind Russell last year, and now.... not so sure he makes the roster, albeit guess you could pencil him in here behind Lamp, or even @LT, albeit again.... we have to draft a LT, don't we ?? and may be last chance/dance for Lamp ??

OC * Qberry, Mike P. * am writing this thing from the bottom up and think I covered the center position @RG

RG * Trai, Tevi, Feeney * for the umpteenth time, and for the love of the goddess, see no reason why Feeney isn't played @RG and not left ?? also cannot believe how anyone fathoms him as a center.... he is challenged to hold it down @guard, let alone take responsibility for the whole line.... Spencer Pulley might not have been as gifted as some physically/athletically, but he darn sure was a center, and a large reason why that/his line only allowed 18 pressures (?) that year, and.... do believe it best to move on from Mike and to use that money to better ends, as he is a near chronic injury concern, has made his contribution (thank you so much Mr. Pouncey), and Qberry has shown that he can cover the pivot if we need decent backup play, albeit dude is not a starter long-term.... draft priority, in particular Cesar Ruiz pls

RT * Beluga, Trey * personal opinion is that the only way the Bulaga signing was a good one is if he is holding down the fort while Pips auditions for a starting job, as odds are that Bryan is gonna pull a Russell and miss significant time over the course of his contract, albeit he will buy time for Pipkins to sort things out.... or not, and.... ignore all the aforementioned if we draft Wirfs…. we have to draft the bpa and not for need/position.... it will all work out/fall together (see Keenan Allen)

Wide receivers (8): Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Andre Patton, Jason Moore, Jalen Guyton, Darius Jennings, Tyron Johnson, Anthony Johnson * suspect that the both of Patton and perhaps Anthony Johnson could nab roster spots, albeit not so optimistic 'bout the likes of Tyron nor Jennings ?? do think there is some gold to mine day three in the draft as am taking a liking to the both of Binjimen Victor and Josh Pearson, both of whom know their way to the endzone, and.... still like Aaron Fuller as an admittedly slower and smaller slot receiver who is shifty and has a knack for getting open/catching the ball, and.... despite the improbability, still would have next to zero problem w/the drafting of Lamb, as rule No. 1 is not to bust, and dude is def a top shelf baller.

Tight ends (5): Hunter Henry, Virgil Green, Stephen Anderson, Andrew Vollert, Donald Parham * so they think that Parham is a sufficient hedge against Henry's injury concerns/history and Green's lack of pass catching prowess ?? ….(they might just be right on this one, this year ?)

ps. forgot to again reassert that thinkin' the prudent move is to move on from Dan and to attempt to salvage a day three pick by trading him, and.... if and hopefully when we draft Wirfs he could in theory spell most any spot on the line, as he is clearly a RT @the least, could possibly play LT for a bit, and according to many may well thrive @guard.... he would be helpful on the Oline regardless/as it is at present.

Johnson. * still don't know much if anything 'bout PJJ, and am fairly secure in the assumption that the drafting of Leki would be a reasonable addition/helpful, and.... still got no problems w/moving on from Tillery, and perhaps in pkg w/Bosa in a trade (to Green Bay ?), and.... haven't breached it much of late, as also still would have no problem w/D. Brown landing here @6, and.... don't know if Linval is the answer (preferred Shelton in FA), albeit good on the Chargers for finally bringing in a real NT.... they/we won't regret it, and.... (our LBs thank you)

Defensive end (3): Joey Bosa, Melvin Ingram, Isaac Rochell (tendered ERFA) * does he want to stay/be a Charger, or does he have another destination in mind ?? do you call his bluff and offer him his $100m guaranteed and $150m/over six years ?? if he takes it, we're set, if he balks, then we move him and don't play the dog and pony show again, and do what's best for the team/roster ?? and ditto for Mel.... how much and how long for Supa ??… (also intrigued by the suggestion to play Egbule @LEO, as hadn't given it much thought ?)

Linebackers (7): Denzel Perryman, Kyzir White, Drue Tranquill, Nick Vigil, Uchenna Nwosu, Emeke Egbule, Malik Jefferson * could be a pretty suspect bunch as see things as possibly feast or famine ?? still love Denzel, and had high hopes for White and Jatavis for that matter, and even Malik is a name that pops out as he had some love to him in the draft coming out, and.... still think we need a backup MIKE and a starting WIL ?? transition year here as we will see more of Tranquill and a first look at the likes of Malik and Vigil ?? ….(Linval will help)

Cornerbacks (7): Casey Hayward, Michael Davis, Chris Harris, Desmond King, Brandon Facyson, Quenton Meeks, Tevaughn Campbell * does Desmond take AP's spot @dimebacker and backup SS to Derwin ?? also read some pretty dire stats on Mike D. the other day, as was surprised he wasn't more highly thought of/productive ?? still like Facyson as part of my five here, and gots no problem w/fishing for a CB in the draft, and preferably day two if the big fellas are off the board come round three.

Safeties (4): Derwin James, Rayshawn Jenkins, Nasir Adderley, Roderic Teamer * think I'm movin' King over to this group and waiting 'til next year after eye see how Derwin's health holds up this next season, and if Nasir emerges @all ??
