if i go back to fouts uniforms (royals, my all-time favorite): i think the white jersey definitely need the blue shoulder backing for the bolt (same with the current uni - it needs to be added), but i think the blue jersey would have been fine without the white backing.

i am hoping for a fouts era royal helmet throwback for this season, but i plan to be disappointed once again.
Same, but hopefully they pulled the current alternate royals for a reason. They may have been the least popular of the new unies, but I don't recall anybody saying that they absolutely hated them. Where there's smoke, there's fire?? Should have done it when they retired Joiner and Winslow's jersey, but for those of us that grew up during that era it's never too late.

Charger Power!
My least favorite are the Navy blue of the three. I always tend to go for lighter colors on everything, but thats me....though i do have plenty of Navy shirts because of that.....between them and the Padres going blue.
Never had a dark colored vehicle either.....except the one black one she wanted til she saw how dirty it always was lol. Havent had another since
this may be old news to some older folks, but it looks like the chargers helmet was inspired by air force helmet designs.
the attached pic is from an air force pilot in a 1950's monster move (the deadly mantis). i was watching a youtube clip on the movie when the air force helmet suddenly caught my eye.
Either of these are good for my childhood nostalgia, but to do it right, the royals should be the Coryell version and the navys the Seau/LTs. Great representation of both eras.

If they don't claim to have borrowed it to honor them, then they flat out stoled it.
i have never heard the topic brought up anywhere, maybe they did back in the 60's. I was surprised and amazed when i saw the clip - I had always imagined some chargers employee doodling the bolt on paper back in 1960!
this isn't kinda sorta looks similar - they definitely copied it!
either way - i have loved the helmet since i was 10 years old (now in my 50's).
