If you meant best player for the Chargers then sure no disagreements there.
RBs are usually only as good as their o line and how bad our run defense looks.

Penalties are an issue that must be dramatically reduced.

That is a staggering amount of yards and TDs.

Interesting Take on Justin Herbert in the Red Zone...but there is also in the second half of the video Simms talks about the overall types of plays and only Short passes for the Chargers. Not entirely sold on Lombardi yet. We'll see....

Looking at Brees' stats and the Saints' weapons from the 2010's or so. Brees had plenty of sub 4.40 guys to throw bombs to. It opened it up for him to throw easy short passes for 1st downs.

That said, TT has not constructed a WR/RB roster that's nearly as quick as the ones the Saints/Lombardi had. Perhaps that's why were not seeing as much deep balls.....or just saving them for later.

First I will say that our memories are often wrong which is why film and stats matter. I remembered Kazee being further back so I thought Allen had room to cut under him. I was wrong about that.

Memories being wrong applies to last year too. People are remembering the offense being different that it was.

We haven't had a 40+ yd TD since week 7 of last year. Teams backed off and played a more conservative coverage. They're still doing it, which is why underneath stuff works until the field compresses.

Average air yards per target is higher this year (7.9) than last year (7.4). We are second in the league in explosive passing plays. I think more were called last week but protection didn't hold for the longer routes. We ran a lot of play action.

I don't consider 9 yard passes to be "short". If you look at a distribution diagram or complete histogram (rather than a 3 column histogram), we have a lot of targets 7-9 yards downfield (as opposed to 0-6). Calling a 9 yard pass "short" and a 10 yard pass "intermediate" is an improper distinction. And even if we have to draw the line somewhere, I draw it at about 6 yards rather than 10 yards. Just because we have 10 fingers doesnt mean that's the border for everything, metric system be damned.

However, my biggest takeaway for what the offense is lacking right now is AUDIBLES. Double post is designed to split a single high safety. They were in a good call to counter the routes, and the middle of the field was congested. The proper decision was to audible into something with out breaking routes. I don't recall an audible this year. I'm assuming as Herbert grows these will be added.

Also, vander Esch got away with blatant illegal contact on Guyton. Because of course.

We had one in TBilly but decided to let him go. TT needs to work on The RB.

Which is more important in a receiver, quick or fast?

                          This is 100% truth.

Zeke looks great when he's got a 5 foot hole to blow through. He ranked 22nd last year in yards after contact (NFL stats). He might fall forward when tackled, but he rarely makes a clean tackle break, and he rarely jukes someone out.

It was Cowboys right guard Martin in particular, and the Dallas line in general that dominated.
