Maybe the F.O. needs to hire an outside QB guru to help with development?

I say whatever works! As Beach mentioned meditation could help too. Definitely agree with that.

According to Kyle Posey, the Chargers top 6 in order was (don't ask me how he knows):

          1. Burrows
          2. Young
          3. Thomas
          4. Simmons
          5. Tua
          6. Herbert

Telesco never said that Herbert was the top person on their board (Simmons was higher) as he typically does.

Supposedly, Telesco was in the mind set that they will not have the opportunity to pick in the top 10 again.

            Kyle Posey was apparently wrong.

Watched Wisconsin game and Cal game.

His film is legit (duh). Anyone predicting him to be a bust based on film is ignorant imo. Whether this guy is successful or not will be based upon factors we do not have access to, primarily the space between his ears.

Guy has a tremendous arm and moves pretty damn well in the pocket. Also, he's an elite thrower in that -5 to +10 range in that he can hit guys in stride. Will be better not running so much read shit. Tough when there are so many unblocked guys, which is the norm for college/hs offenses.

true enough! If Tua doesn’t get injured he’s likely just a good QB at worst and has the potential to be one of the best.

I'm thinking back to when it became apparent that PR was not coming back. We all said they will draft a QB with that first pick. Most of us even reasoned that it will be Herbert. Then, AL started saying how he thinks Tyrod is so great and TT agreed and most of us started thinking about others they may draft. I'm laughing at it now - TT faked us out! Only a few stuck with the idea that it would be Herbert. :More Q Please:

Hi Pac! That Cal game and the Az. St game were his worst games of the year.

He's really one of those guys that is too smart for his own good, and his personality type allows that to have a very large influence on how he plays.

HIS SUCCESS OR FAILURE WILL HAVE MORE TO DO WITH HIS PSYCHOLOGICAL STATE THAN ANYTHING ELSE.

Get him pissed off and he will have moments where he can be a really good QB. It's all upstairs with him.

That will be the absolute key. Chargers need to do everything in their power to elevate his confidence, but confidence can really only be gained thru experience.
Those are exactly problems related to bad mechanics.

A player with bad mechanics is often slow to throw and simply lacks confidence. Once he gets to the point where he can get the ball up, and out on time, and deliver it where he wants, he can really start to learn how to read defenses> Oregon simplifies their offense to such a degree, that it makes it almost impossible to tell how well he was coached.

Hebert may or not be a great QB. However, he is EXACTLY the type of QB who would benefit from sitting a year. Let Tyrod start, and take our time teaching him how to be an NFL QB. Don't assume anything. He make s a lot of bad reads, so take him through the entire offense, play by play, over and over again, vs a lot of different defenses. Fix him from the footwork up, it will help get him in synch with when his throws are ready to be made. We run a variation of a West Coast offense, so time to go all West Coast offense on him. Bill Walsh used to break down every QB who played for the 49ers and work on their mechanics, teach them the game from the ground up.

Hebert will be a decent enough pick is we make the commitment to approaching him the right way. But if the idea is to throw him to the wolves and simply let him struggle his way through, then he is pretty much doomed. It rarely works, and if it does work it is just dumb luck. The 6th pick and the QB position (either one) is way to important to basically decide to piss away the pick, because we are too fucking lazy to do things right.

U of O HC talking him up.
There's some meat to what he's saying.

I think that's the point. Looking at his best games will not tell us nearly as much as his worst.
