What I love about Brady is he has his mechanics written down on 3 X 5 cards and goes over his mechanics before every game, and has since his rookie season. Mechanics are everything to his accuracy
and he is constantly refreshing his fundamentals.

When pressured many QBs mechanics (footwork, arm angles, release/follow through, downfield vision) are totally different. As a matter of fact if you deviate from just one aspect and bad things will happen. Brady is notorious for being not only being mechanically textbook perfect but he'll be consistent even under pressure. That said he's human. A few hard hits and even the GOAT will deviate from an aspect or 2 or 3.

The narrator is our own beloved Dan Fouts. Check out the two QBs.

Good article. However, this part is concerning. Hopefully it’s just Herbert and Lombardi working out the kinks together and plays will be better on 1st and 2nd downs.
Herbert’s 0.04 EPA per play on first and second downs ranks 25th in the league, but on third down, he jumps up to 0.44 EPA per play, which ranks sixth.

The large gap in those splits is easy to explain. So far this season, the Chargers have had difficulty turning accurate passes into completions. Among quarterbacks with at least 40 early-down passing attempts, Herbert has the biggest gap between his on-target throw rate (84.3 percent) and his completion percentage (68.4 percent). He is putting the ball where it needs to be. It’s just not being caught. And while some of the responsibility for that chasm falls on the Chargers receivers, a good chunk should also be attributed to offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi.

Lombardi, who came over from the Saints this year, asks a lot of his players. His system calls for a lot of tough throws to the perimeter, and a lot of tough catches along the sidelines. (The Chargers are tied for the third-most “contested catch” targets in the league, per Pro Football Focus.) Sure, Lombardi is incorporating his fair share of play-action passes, which have been a cheat code for most offenses. But for the Chargers, those plays have mostly attacked the sidelines rather than the middle of the field, which requires longer throws that are more difficult to connect on. Per Sports Info Solutions, no quarterback has attempted more play-action passes aimed outside the numbers than Herbert has this season. And the strategy isn’t working: Herbert ranks 28th in ANY/A on play-action passes this season.

Something I noticed Herbert doing in the last game was pre snap, he was making sure there wasn’t two guys in motion at once. He actually yelled at a guy to stand still before using his signal to have the designated guy come in the motion then snap the ball.

This a good adjustment from Staley and Herbert’s doing a good job with it.
Tom Telesco’s Results in 9 years as Chargers GM:

                - 69-74 record
                - 0 division titles in 9 yrs as GM
                - Worst record among all active GMs with same tenure
                - 6th worst winning percentage among all active GMs overall
                - 2 playoff wins despite elite QB all 9 yrs
                - Team still has the same weaknesses (Oline and run defense) that it had when hired as GM in 2013
                - Consistently puts together horrible depth, expects starters to never miss games
