    The Defense

IMO, the Bolts now have a complete defense. TT has had trouble trying to find modern speedy LBs. He kept trying to covert safeties and if hasn't worked. Now he has a true, full sized, fast, modern LB. Its the last piece of the puzzle IMO. Every other D position has a decent starter.

This could be our best D ever.

Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

I haven't seen a defense on the chargers this stacked ever in over 40 years now that we've added a true linebacker and some other d players that play like first rounders. We're scary on paper now and the help Herbert needs is going to come from both sides of the ball.

          Agreed.
Getting out to a lead takes pressure off young QBs and Olines.
We do not play modern football.

Fo sho! This is why we need to find the between the tackles back now. (Ahem...Zack Moss). What?

Like Moss but like others more. Have to see how the board plays out.

The 1979 team was 2nd in the league in points allowed:

Check out the 1979 San Diego Chargers Roster, Players , Starters and more on Pro-Football-Reference.com.

That team was loaded. That was my favorite era of Chargers' football. They should have won a Superbowl.

Oddly, this is the one season that Kelcher missed.

The additions of Murray, Joseph, Harris plus hopefully Tillery and Adderley giving something - this defense really has a chance to be very good. I was scrolling potential free agents and saw some names I liked. I am not sure where he fits - but if the team does trade Desmond King - I wonder if there is room for Tony Jefferson on the roster. At one time, he was a good football player. Maybe he is the wrong fit with Derwin James. But I saw his name and thought - how can he help the team.

You never know - veterans might be looking for a paycheck. I expect Tampa to get a few of those vet minimum guys this year but maybe the Bolts get one or two as well for depth.
