Daniel Popper:The Chargers needed speed on offense. The position wasn't *that* important, really. Receiver made more sense to me. But Kelley right away become the offense's second fastest player after Austin Ekeler. And they can still add a receiver next round.

Thick body with huge thighs. Will break tackles. Will leap over defenders. Appears to have good vision. Has receiving skills. Doesn't have break-away speed.

Building a really solid RB by committee corps. I approve of this pick.

I agree with the above note about patience then 1-cut and go as key. I watched a few highlight reels, he’ll doo better in short yardage than anything on the roster - he can hit low and drive for a couple yards when needed. Not a constant breakaway threat, but a good inside the tackles RB. Looks like solid pick to me.

                  Walter Football grade:

Los Angeles Chargers: Joshua Kelley, RB, UCLA - B Grade
The fit is obvious, as the Chargers lost Melvin Gordon and needed to find a running back to pair with Austin Ekeler. Kelley was projected as a fourth-round choice, so it makes sense for the Chargers to take a local product at this spot.

Looks like a physical down eater. Can play all three downs to wear out defense with physical style and pass protect when necessary to allow offense to pass out of similar looks. May not be a 4 ypc guy.

                    Solid day 3 pick.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

No real announcement on this pick on ABC/ESPN, look at Chargers.com for a possible location but don't see one there.
