2020 Best Drafts Measured By Value Chart #s - ARI, DAL,CLE Winners

I used the draft trade values( where the player actually went vs where he was ranked) to measure the value in each pick . For ex : Joe Burrow was chosen #1 . The #1 pick value is 3,000, but he was ranked #2 - value of 2,600 in CBS's rankings , so the value was -400 (2,600- 3,000) for that pick. I then summed them for each team.

This is just a quick numerical look to measure each team's draft. Very limited as doesn't consider trades, or need. For ex CIN needed a QB more than the #1 ranked player , DE Chase Young. Hope is of some interest.

We actually did ok. Herbert was ranked 18 and we took him at 6. We got the franchise QB though the trade value was -ve. Again it is just a simplified look
ARI, DAL, CLE had great picks and the best scores based on this measure.

Over half of their “value” is just AZ taking Simmons at 8 instead of, what, 6? 5? I don’t see much value in this stat. I assume LAC’s negative score is just someone’s opinion of where Herbert should have been taken?

They got Simmons at 8. This is again using the trade values chart that teams use for draft pick trades for the value of each pick. Ie The # 6 pick is worth the #18 + #26 if we wanted to trade down w MIA. The rankings were done by CBS.

Maybe we should use the stat where $25 -$5 million nets us $20 million to spend everywhere else on the team. How about the stat where Murray is equal to 2 players on the field without getting flagged for penalty 12 man on field!

think this could actually be a fairly accurate indicator/barometer of how team TommyJohn might have done, as it would show they didn't reach much save for the RB, which was a need that called for not waiting out another round, and then there was the proverbial/token ND guy that they will of course make no apologies for, even if a slight reach.

the other guys are pretty much safer than not picks and not sure any of the guys are gonna bust/disappoint, which again might be an indicator/barometer of a decent draft, as rarely do all 7 contribute, and....

the haymaker that's gonna make or break this draft is Herbert, who is prolly 'bout a 50/50 shot to make it.... personally wouldn't have gone there, and woulda gone the safer route on the Oline, and.... is he more Carson Wentz or Jay Cutler ?? and can he limit his running to where he's stays healthy in the Not For Long ??

not overly excited, and not exactly underwhelmed either tho….

Az didn't have a second or fifth, so unless you were one of the super Simmons supporters, not sure if their draft was all that spectacular, as think Dallas was the best draft value.

I agree. My feeling is at #6, which is hopefully a rare occasion w a high draft pick, it is a good chance to get the franchise QB so they sort of followed standard practice. I hope he succeeds but it would be more disastrous if they were picking lower and did one of those mortgage the future type trade up deals. At least here it was just one bad pick get a QB in FA if he fails.

Hopefully, they are more run orientated too so he doesn't have to carry the team on his back as much.
