5th Year Options On 2017 First Rounders

Anybody else besides me a little surprised at how many teams did not exercise their 5th year options on guys? Four of the first 5 picks got a no and I believe 13 of 30 overall were told no. If this does not speak to how tough drafting is, then I don't know what would. That or salaries are just out of hand. Thoughts?

Not as many blue chip guys at the top that year. 49ers, Bears, and Titans all whiffed.

Belicheat is right. Quantity over quality when you can’t trust the quality.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

I don't think Mike Williams is worth the fifth year option as well but who's going to argue about paying an extra $4-5 million when you might have to burn another first rounder and fill another hole on offense. After his fifth year we'll know what we've got an then cross that bridge after the fifth year.

Or the US with our Shermans but the T-34 with the revolutionary sloped armor was the best tank of WWII.

The point is that the Russians could produce 3 times as many and give them 95% the quality of the german panzers. "Quantity has a quality all it's own!" Joseph Stalin. And Stalin was no Rocket scientist either. LOL!

A lot of the players who are up for 5th year options have issues. And now the money is gaureenteed, which it was not before (old CBA).

Mike Williams had his moments last year but was inconsistent too.
