I went through this about three years ago. Woke up in the middle of the night with a pounding in my chest. Called the paramedics, packed a few things knowing I might be in the hospital for a while, they took me to the ER, I had an 80% blockage in my left coronary artery. Had a stent inserted. Was released after 2 days. Went on a completely vegan diet. I'm doing great. Very active. Bought a road bike, started riding, lost weight, got fit. I'm 62 and still play softball and do all kinds of athletic things. I am on zero meds for my heart due to the fact I eat a completely plant- based diet, no meat, no dairy.

Mojo to you. Had my own about 8 years ago. 5 stents altogether. My Japanese doctors told me that if I were in the US, I'd have had a triple bypass. Took 3 operations to get everything unclogged. The only reason I survived was because I worked out so much all my life. The reason for the clogged arteries was purely DNA. I can do pretty much anything I want, but the doc tells me not to run any marathons. No worries about that. I'm a little too old at 62 to be doing that anyway. Still work out, but not as much as I'd like due to my business. Keep eating well and exercise, and all should be well.

Still here in the hospital, they want to do an echocardiogram to see what the damage is. The artery was 100% occluded, but they got the clot. I dont have any current pain but my heart is occasionally throwing arrhythmias. My pain threshold may be high though...im glad i got in as soon as i did, or i was a goner.

Yeah, sounds more severe than my episode with an 80% blockage. Once they dissolved the clotting and inserted the stent, I had no further issues. The damage to my heart was minimal to nonexistent. I don't remember it being particularly painful, not in comparison to when I passed gallstones some years earlier. When I saw my cardiologist a few weeks later, he cleared me to climb Mount Everest if I so desired. Godspeed to you.
